i'm looking for a manga, that if i bought a volume of it now, i'd still read and hopefully enjoy it in the future! for example.... for me anyway, bleach.
it's one of my all time faves right now, i've got two volumes ( i live in a country where manga's are quite expensive, ok?), one i bought last year and i still love reading the series.

I've also bought oresama teacher as a more light hearted read. Hopefully i'll still enjoy it in a year's time!

another good example is xxxholic. and kekkaishi.
an example of what i'm NOT looking for is cardcaptor sakura. trust me, i still love it! but just the memory of watching the anime as a ten year old. now when i read the manga, it's really cringe worthy....

something like death edge is good too... i still enjoy re-reading fruits basket after seven years since i first started...

http://www.mangaupdates.com/mylist.html

here's a link to my lists for everything i've read. my complete, wish list, on hold and unfinished lists are all public so you get a reading of what i like and don't like.

i know this is more of a personal question so i'm kind of just asking what have your 'timeless' manga's been or are smile

i'm open to any category, shojo shonen.

please do not recommend smut, boys love, girls love, incest, hentai, mature, a manga where the girls have unproportional and unrealistic body parts that the boy stares at and gets nose bleeds over all the time, where a guy rapes and or date/rapes the girl, typical crying, weak, i fall in love every two weeks shojo girl... and you catch my drift bigrazz

Eh... I don't see this request as anything more than asking for "good manga" or "favorite manga"... as I see you've sort of admitted, lol.

That's not how you link your lists. You have to link it from your public profile.

If you're looking for manga you would enjoy years from now, try seinen or josei since they are directed toward older men and women. Since you seem to like CLAMP, you should read Chobits. Personally though, I love Urasawa Naoki's works like 20th Century Boys and Monster and can see myself rereading those even when I'm 80 and senile (okay, maybe not if I'm actually senile). Also check out Shin Angyo Onshi since it's an amazing work.

thank you for all the replies!

mm, i've had a look at chobits but wasn't really sure if i'd enjoy so havn't read it yet. maybe i'll give it a shot!

i've read a few josei mangas but most of the ones i've read were oneshots and weren't very god. one i'm liking at the moment is chihayafuru but i'm not sure if it's the sort of thing i'd enjoy in five years time. (who knows though? only time will tell!)

i guess i'm asking this post is cos since it's so expensive to buy manga where i live, when i buy one i want to make sure that it'll be worth the money you know?

I had been reading my YuYu Hakusho manga since i was 10, it was the first manga i bough and still read it from time to time.

also, Vagabond and Slam dunk by the same guy that did real bigrazz

But if you want to spend money on something you should go for something and read it again and again, you should go for action and comedy or easy going love comedy (in my opinion). Manga such as Monster (or anything from Naoki-sensei) is amazing and deep, but the best part of it is to found out what's going on, so it might not be as satisfying at the long run... as i said that is just my opinion.

Oyayubi kara romance is probably good. I have one of the volumes on me and it never stops me from laughing everytime I pick it up and I really love it. biggrin

1/2 prince this one is hilarious and i always love reading it! All the characters are so lovable and the things they get themselves into makes me laugh every time.
mars this is more serious but i just love the characters and how they get through their individual traumas together. I love to go back and read this.
tokyo crazy paradise this is also very funny and again i love the characters. I love how they express themselves(or dont biggrin) and their many messes they manage to get wrapped up in.

Personally, I'm a fan of Love Hina and I have read it about 5-6 times over the years. It's easily accessible, light hearted but there's still a good story to be told and there is long term development.

Just trying to throw out an uncommon one.
