Well, I really haven't read much Josei. I normally tend to read shoujo manga and I'm content with that but, I just finished this great josei called Kimi was Kirakira. I'm hoping to read more of these type of stories, so if you could help me by recommending some manga within this genre that'd be great~!

What I'd like:
~Josei
~Romance
~Sports related (But if it isn't that's fine as well!)

What I don't want:
~......Nothing really. I don't know enough of this genre to really eliminate any factors.

GO CRAZY! biggrinDD

well I'm not into josei, but those were fine:
14-sai no Koi
Dokuhime

Hachimitsu to Clover
Usagi Drop
Yesterday, Yes a Day

@Sherryl: Nineteen, Twenty-One is not josei, it was once categorized shoujo, but that was changed - still a very good read

@MsBubbleCakes: glad to hear that, thanks for the trust wink

In my eyes Kanojoiro no Kanojo is a nice one, including romance and sports (free-fighting). And - Aside from Kimi wa Kirakira, the other works of YOSHINO Aki are also pretty charming, so maybe you should take a look at them, too. ^^

If you liked Kimi wa Kira Kira, then I'd strongly recommend works by:

Yoshino Aki
Yoshizumi Wataru
Yazawa Ai
Wann

If you want josei more "mature", but with female leads very shoujo alike, there's:

Ohmi Tomu
Enjouji Maki
Yoshihara Yuki
Aihara Miki

Manga
If you like light stories, you can try Harlequin's manga, primarily oneshots based on romantic novels aimed to women.

Handmade no Oujisama
Hatsukoi no Tsuzuki
Diamond Life
Natsuyuki Rendezvous
Hotaru no Hikari

some of these are not technically josei but they are definitely for older, more mature readers

Hanshin
A Cruel God Reigns
Helter Skelter and River's Edge
Ooku
Nodame Cantabile
anything by Yoshida Akimi

Thanks everyone! I'm extremely exciting to begin reading~
Looking at all of this just made me realize how much of an awkward stage I'm in concerning manga. Shoujo makes me swoon over the adorable characters, but then its obvious nothing like that will ever occur so I sink into my realistic pessimistic hole which from what I've read Josei gets me out of. xDD

Yay for conflicting feelings~

I am actually reading both those mangas. And they're great in my opinion.

Kuragehime - one of my favorites. It doesn't have sports but she's a desingner or something.

I really like josei mangas as well and I am always in trouble to find something that I haven't read before. smile

one of my favorites is The Tarot Cafe. I hope you don't mind fantasy. you may think that the characters are not drawn nicely, but in my point it gives the story a dark and mystic atmosphere.

I really like Cousin as well. it's about a girl who is overweight and meets a man with whom she falls in love at first sight. then she decides to lose weight.

I second YOSHINO Aki.

I'm not a crybaby however to be honest I was really sad while reading Deep Love - Pao no Monogatari and all of Deep Love stories.

I am really suprised because Kimi no Sei hasn't mentioned yet. but I am 90% sure that you've already read it. smile

I suggest Itoshi no Nina. it has a really unique spot. there are two friends who are fans of a pretty girl. then the weird one kidnaps her and the normal one saves her. and becomes her bodyguard. smile

do you mind smut? if not, give Soryanaize Darling a try.

sorry, these are not about sport, but I hope it will suit your taste. smile

Here's some I don't think have been mentioned yet:

I'm reading A Delicious Relationship right now, and so far it's very good. It's more of a slice-of-life than a dramatic story, about a girl who decides to become a chef in what is very much a male domain. I find the story to be sophisticated with a skillful use of physical metaphors. (Hope my opinion doesn't change as I read).

Candy Life - a woman has to decide between love and a 'candy life' - security. By the same mangaka, Baby Pop, a girl who's just lost her mother learning to live with her new step-father, who was much younger than her mother. This refreshingly does not go where a shoujo would. OGAWA Yayoi is also the author of the much better-known [m]Kimi was Pet[/m], which I can't comment on as I haven't read it yet, but it is widely acclaimed.

Second YOSHIHARA Yuki - I love her funny smut
Second OHMI Tomu, esp. Midnight Secretary - a secretary who will do anything for her vampire boss

Banana Bread no Pudding - not josei, but a shoujo classic with appeal for older readers
