I know you just said you probably wouldn't come back to this, but I just have a point to bring up. In Japan, the legal age of consent is only 13 years old, which is comparatively lower than countries like America, which has it at 18. This means that the idea of controversy through paedophilia needs the girls to be younger than in other countries. I think the main idea behind of lolicon mangas is to controversial in most cases, because controversial books, mangas etc. sell well (in the case of underaged girls look at Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov which is considered a classic). I'm not saying that all lolicon mangas are just there for controversy, but I believe that many of them try to use the idea to market themselves as a controversial mangaka, most sexual loli relationships are also found in seinen, which we all know is targeted at the older audience, and by then you'd assume the reader would have enough common sense to not recreate situations found in mangas.

If a person became disgusted reading a loli manga, that person is seeing a real person in the paper. If one can't separate real life and a narrative medium, they shoun't blame the manga.
2D - lolis - nice
3D - children - not nice
Simple as that.

You are just looking for the loli OP. There's barely anything worth mentioning and KnJ left the loli genre a long time ago since Rin grew up.

It's definitely not "just the OP". Name any shounen manga, and almost 100% of the time you can name either:

A) An absurdly cute per-pubescent character that is seen in swimsuit/short skirts/revealing costume/cosplay.

B) A supposed older character that looks like a child.

The same question could go for 'Why so much fighting mangas?!' when fighting is socially immoral and looked down upon. A person could love fighting mangas and you won't see them going around fighting and beating everybody up.

Simple answer is: because it is popular. Popular sells.

Great point!

I am a lolicon and I will say no. Stop being such an american. No, a swimsuit or a skirt is not something "revealing". Also, it's normal you can see kids in mangas. A "normal world" would have kids in it. Hence female kids.

1) I fail to see what being an American has to do with anything? O_o
2) Don't mean to get all technical but technically swimsuits are revealing. Really depends on the type of swimsuit but it's silly to say that most swimsuits are not revealing. Is a bikini revealing? You bet bro, your revealing everything but your nipples and you lower location. Is a one piece revealing? Not nearly as revealing but still revealing. But only because something is revealing it doesn't make it bad. &depending on the length of any clothing it can be revealing.

&I would just like to add that a lot of characters from many manga would be considered loli. Whether they are sexualized or not would decide if they are simply a loli or lolicon material.

A swimsuit scene exists only for fanservice. There are rare exceptions where it's 100% justified and 100% necessary for the storyline, but those are few and far between. And this isn't just for manga and anime. Movies, photos, even literature.

A skirt is not necessarily fanservice. A skirt that goes above the knees is always fanservice in terms of japanese culture context.

The point is not that kids exist in manga. It's that almost every single shounen manga in existence has either a younger child, or an old character that looks like a child, with at least one scene that promotes their ogling. Yes, there are kids that where two piece swimsuits, and yes there are kids that wear short skirts, but the fact that a mangaka draws those scenes specifically shows that there's some significance to it within their work.

some things to consider

1.shounen manga is mostly for children...7-14 yo boys...its only normal for young readers to be interested in girls their age[sexually]

2.i think its important to accept that you have thoughts about sex with children, sex with animals, sex with the dead, sex with your parents/siblings and so on...i dont mean that you should go out and have sex with them...what i mean is that its probably pretty common to have some of these feelings and its not healthy to be disgusted with yourself
you should accept these feelings...not act on them
being told how unimaginable disguting you are for having these feelings will only lead to problems

3.unless you read COMIC LO and the much tamer COMIC RiN every month...your probably not a lolicon...and even then its questionable

4.KnJ is exploring the sexual feelings of the young student toward her teacher who have a very hard time dealing with her[thats atleast how it started out]...its important to note that children have these feelings...if it had been about a young boy who wanted to fuck his hot teacher this would not even come up as something strange

5.about OPs problem with a person taking photos of his children...did he singel out your children? did the person take lots of photos or just on your children...it was probably not a pedophile...it was just your imagination that made this man feel very uncomfertable

6.studies show that pedophilia is just as common in both sexes
think about that when woman take pictures of children/when you leave them at daycare

7.japanese have an unhealthy look on making money...alot of very qeustionable things gets made... if there is the slightest chance of making money out of something...japan will provide
and they will exploit everyone and everything they can

revealing outfits...thats just a silly argument...we cant turn back time to the 1950s and most of us dont want to live under religious rule that force woman to wear burkas and whatnot

children should be allowed to wear pretty much whatever they want...just as adults are
you cant run around imagine pedophiles lurk in every corner
and pedophiles will take your child no matter what they wear

Once again, the point isn't that kids wear revealing outfits. It's that the mangaka specifically draws attention to the fact that the child-character's outfit is revealing. Either with explicit statements from characters, or giving that character an extra-large panel so they can show off all their skin.

It's like long hair in movies. In real life, there's absolutely no specific meaning to it. In movies, though, tons of times a female character will do some big, dramatic, slow-motion whipping of their hair. The fact that they're showing off their long, flowing hair with such focus means that you're supposed to find it sexy.

It's not about the revealing clothes, it's about mangakas specifically emphasizing the revealing clothes.

I agree. I also can't remember girls having boobs the size of watermelons. dead

They're cute, but they don't really fit the image of being in an Adult or Semi-Adult manga. Maybe just a side character or like a stranger across the street. But as a main character? DEFINITELY NOT.

And seriously, how can they have sex? Excuse me for my language. But HOW THE HELL? HOW? How can little girls even look sexy or lewd or viewed as sexual images? I just don't know. Sure, they're cute. But they haven't even reached puberty yet. All I can think about when I think of them are Elementary school and playing, cute, frilly dresses, dolls. All those sparkly , frill, frilly things.
