Campione! is really good Kaze no Stigma though only 2 volumes were translated. I love how merciless the main character is compared to the anime. Full metal panic novels were translated though you have to buy the first three but some group put .pdf files out for volumes 4 and up just today. And i cannot forget about chrome shelled regios.

Seconding The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor (Novel) also 1/2 Prince... If you like 1/2 Prince I recommend reading the author's other works The Legend of Sun Knight (Novel) and [m]Eclpise Hunter (Novel)[/m] (though they're not gamer novels if that was what you were looking for). And speaking of which, Kawahara Reki (author of SAO) has another novel, Accel World (Novel), but I haven't read it.

EDIT: And I checked but I don't think there is an English version of Tokage no Ou... I found one source that said Vexed Scans might translate the novel soon (someone from Deus Ex Scans, it's in the comments on Batoto), but I couldn't verify that so don't quote me!! You might have to dig around their site or leave a comment..

The Twelve Kingdoms
Kino's Journey (Novel)
Seirei no Moribito (Novel)
and the .hack// novels. they are actually fairly well written.

Novel that is on the same genre/setting as SAO and is better is hard to find.....

I have read Accel World (Novel), and it was quite good.
The plus point is that it happen in the same world as SAO (future setting)
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Have you read Alicization arc? The RATH/Soul translator that Kirito take part in its development is the technology that used in Accel World, called Brain Burst. No further connection between has been revealed.

Second Koukaku no Regios (Novel)
- a good fantasy themed novel, and the main character is, like Kirito, one of the strongest character and it has interesting concept.

2nd - The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor (Novel) quite good, but the translator haven't release new chapter for quite some time. Some summary is available, bu tit still couldn't replace a translated chapter.

Rather than 1/2 Prince, which actually quite good, I recommend you to read Legend of Sun Knight. Its not that I hate 1/2 Prince, but i think LSK have better story.

Non VR novel :
Mushi to Medama (Novel)
Ame no Hi no Iris (Novel)
Mimizuku to Yoru no Ou (Novel)

hmm as for now they skipped one town/volume (after the pyrite incident 2nd season first half)
apart from that, the novel is a bit ahead (1 volume).

main point in reading the novel is that you see directly the main character's thoughts, and thats a big plus.
