Hi, I'm fairly new to the community and have only pretty recently gotten into reading manga.

I've been reading a lot and want to find more manga along the lines of the ones I've liked.

Specifically I'm looking for completed manga with a romance overtone. It doesn't have to be fully a romance manga, but I'm a sucker for a love story. I also like the romance/comedy combo.

I've read and like:
Suzuka
Ichigo 100%
Love Hina
Love Collage
Unbalance x Unbalance
I"s
Lilim Kiss
Video Girl Ai
Umisho
Chobits
dearS
Change123

Obviously I don't mind harem or some ecchi, but not adult or H please.

Also, i don't want any yaoi, yuri, or gender benders.

One last preference, I like longer manga. It gives the characters more time to develop and lets me read it longer smile 50+ chapters would be awesome!

Thanks so much for your suggestions! I look forward to checking them all out!

I would recommend Suzuka 2 (a bunch of oneshots and one whole chapter!), considering you read Suzuka.
Ao Haru Ride is a good one, but it's ongoing so I don't know if you would be able to handle the wait haha.
To Love-Ru is hilarious and amazing, but the second season is currently ongoing (one chapter a month, unfortunately) but I would recommend it. Season one is complete though and about 160+ chapters.
Trinity Seven: 7 Nin No Mahoutsukai is amazing, but this too, is ongoing on a monthly basis -_- it seems that all the good ones are ongoing (Rosario to Vampire as well sad )
Kimi no Sei was good and it's completed, so I'd recommend that (although the series is short, it's still a good read.)
Inuyasha is good and long, but I'm not sure if you would like it, considering that it's supernatural and all.
Bokura ga Ita is a must-read for someone like you who's looking for a completed love story. Problem with this one is that the ending might not fully satisfy you, but trust me this one is a good one.
Clannad had an amazing story and character development, but I'd highly recommend the anime over the manga.
I know so many more manga that you would love and enjoy, but I really can't think of any more at the moment that are completed.

If you're fine with shoujo ai (i.e. girlxgirl) Girl Friends by MORINAGA Milk is one of my favourites. I actually haven't read many romances i liked :/
Haru yo, Koi is another of the few male-demographic romances i've found to be great.
Cat Street becomes romance heavy at times and is one of my favourite manga ever, especially amongst shoujo. The mangaka made a far more popular work called Hana Yori Dango which i haven't read but you may want to check it out. It's the best selling shoujo of all time, apparently it was insanely popular.
Melo Holic was excellent but it's a troll series. Starts off as a romcom, becomes a psychological thriller bigrazz It's a webtoon.
Tokyo no Casanova is great but short.
Oh! Kanojo o Mamoru 51 no Houhou. Loved that one. Mostly a survival manga though.
Superior and Superior Cross kind of qualify.
Mars was alright.
Sekai no Chuushin de, Ai wo Sakebu is a romance-tragedy...mostly. And quite short, it's an adaptation of a novel.

I ♥ HS I loved for the comedy. It's short.

Other short ones:
Please! Mr. Bear! - not a romance but ABOUT romance.
Purikyuu
Beast Master

I feel like I haven't given many that fit your criteria well. bigrazz

Thank you both, i'll look into all of the ones you've suggested.

I won't be reading the ongoing ones (because like you said, it's hard to wait between each chapter). But i'll look out for when they complete.

I do like Inuyasha, I've watched nearly the entire anime.

I didn't mention it in the post since my anime and manga tastes differ a bit, but I've watched inuyasha, tenchi universe, Dragonball, DBZ, Trigun, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and a few others. I'm much more open to action in anime, but find it hard to follow what's going on in manga.

Change123 is probably the only major "action/martial arts" one i've been able to read"

no ecchi/harem and completed:
Double Arts s
Melo Holic m
Bitter Virgin m
Hana to Akuma l
Hoshi no Samidare l
Usagi Drop l
Annarasumanara s
Densha Otoko m
Hachimitsu to Clover l
Hanako to Guuwa no Tera s
Immortal Rain l
Magico (IWAMOTO Naoki) l

and a bunch more I'm too lazy to put here, I only read romances, and don't like ecchi and harem so you can check my list.

Well, I haven't read what others recommend but here are some of my favourites I wish I had read when I first came around the manga block:

Ashita no Ousama ; Even though it can be a wee bit boring sometimes, I found it quite a refreshing story, since the storyline isn't all about the romance., there is romance and comedy. 6 vol.

Complex; This is a yaoi, but I'm still recommending it since it's in my opinion really good. It's not too graphic, it's a romance and comedy with a decent storyline, it's about 4 vol, but it seems longer.

Ingènuo; Again, not really what you requested but although they crossdress in this one, I guess not for long (?). Romance and comedy, no gender bender tag, 15 vol.

Shiawase Kissa 3-choume ; 15 vol. Romance and Comedy, and since it was in my fave. list, I guess it's worth a try.

There are some other I like to recommend, but they're ongoing:

The One, 90+ chapters
Skip beat, Anime ( 25 ep) + 190+ chapters manga.
Girls of the Wild's, 52 chapters
Bleach (No romance) 490+ chapters

smile wink grin I hope it helps

No offense, but this sort of request and easily be fulfilled by your own hands. Simply go to "Genres" and under that page choose the advanced search option. There you can choose completed (and even completely scanlated!) mangas of the genres you want alongside whatever categories interest you. For example, if you like a story with couple growth, you can add "Couple Growth" to your advanced search.

I just get a tad annoyed when this forum is swamped with requests that are simply asked out of laziness. Since you said you were new to the forums (and site), I figured I'd give you a heads-up to a more useful option.

Now if you have a specific request that cannot be easily found on a search engine, then please post it.

I'll add Koukou Debut - really good and fits all your criteria.

I do agree that a bit of searching would go a long way - but I do understand when you're new to manga you can sometimes feel a little lost so direct replies can be more helpful.

Thank you all for the suggestions! I'm thrilled. I've got a list of about 46 new manga to start on smile lol, daunting task especially considering I've asked for mostly long ones.

I understand your frustration Jeshia and I do apologize if it seems like i'm crowding up the forum. My problem was that I don't really know what I want, so i needed some opinions. When i crossed off the genres i didn't want and then specified comedy, romance, and complete I was left with somewhere in the range of 1,000 manga. That's really hard to whittle down when you don't know much of anything about 99% of them.

I appreciate everyone's feedback however! If you think of any more that meet the criteria, I'd still love to add on to my list!

Thanks again! smile

*edit - Oh and just a bit in my defense. I did find most of my already read manga by searching and then getting input as to which ones were good.

I gotta second Emma.

You might like Gokusen - really funny and has student-teacher romance done well (you'll see once you finish reading)
