It's me again
Last time I was looking for some tough,athletic,cold,rude,ex-delinquent,ex-Yankee manga, right?
well... this time it's about a girl who has a;

~hidden personality (outside = sweet,weak - inside = rude,strong ,etc),
~identity (thinking she's normal, but the truth is she's a head of a yakuza, or an ex-delinquent or something)
~or past (she had a terrible past, like she lost someone, she was bullied, was terribly dumped and tries to get over it...also it can be something like when she sees someone or hears something she has like a ''shock''? ... like she remembers her past ... or something... i just don't know how to explain it >.<)

Something like;

Red Lion where the lead girl tries to hide she was a delinquent,
Fly High! where the girl (at first) tries to hide she was trained in the mountains and is very strong,
Arisa where the lead girl hides her identity at her twin sister's school to find out why her twin tried to commite suicide,
9 Banme no Musashi where the girl hides her identity on her missions,
Cynical Orange where the girl hid her true personality, which was very rude personality, at first,
Dear Waltz a little bit different... where a girl tries to hide her past and tries to be strong,
Gokusen where the lead woman hides she's from a Yakuza family...
W Change!! where the girl tries to hide from her friends that she has a split personalities which are very brutal and violent..
Six Half kinda, about a girl who lost her memory after an accident and when she wakes up, her friends hate her and she doesn't know why... maybe she was a bad person before? a different personality... or a bad past?
Shinshunki Miman Okotowari about a girl who is a great fighter and an athlet, but nobody know about her true identity she tries to hide so much..
Rose Hip Zero about a strong girl who had a terrible past as a member of Alice gang...

These series are more like +18, I guess ^^'
Deep Love - Ayu no Monogatari, part 1 - about a girl who sells herself and thinks her life is hopeless, and then she meets a guy and tries to hid her past....
Deep Love - Host, part 2 - the lead is a guy but it's cool too...
Deep Love - Pao no Monogatari, part 3 - The lead is a... dog... but it's still so sad </3
Deep Love - Reina no Unmei and part 4, - About a girl and her terrible past, *she was raped and got pregnat O:* ~~~~ all of these series are very sad ... very, very, VERY sad... seriously, I was crying O.O.... :X..., and part 1,2 and 4 are about prostitution...... they don't fit the description very well but.... kinda they do... I think

There are more...but i forgot the titles... ops ^^;

What about manhua?

1/2 Prince / 1/2 Prince (Novel) is excellent.

Full Moon wo Sagashite - well written, and her two identities play a large role.

Ichinensei ni Nacchattara - pretty much just episodic comedy, no real storyline.

Kaitou Saint Tail - an old favorite of mine! Really cute and interesting.

Sailor Moon - needs no introduction.

Migawari Hakushaku no Bouken - pretty good for a short story.

Nicoichi - you can decide whether this counts or not. XD He's "female" most of the time.

Penguin Kakumei - cute and refreshing.

Skip Beat - her past is unknown to most everyone. There are also times that she hides her true identity while acting.

Superior - hides her identity and travels with a group that technically wants to kill her.

Let's see... when it comes to not knowing their true self, there's

Innocent Dragon, where the main character suffers from memory loss and has a lot of hidden potential. Certain events seem to trigger her memory.

Demon Sacred- The main character thinks she's normal and leads an average life until she finds out she has a certain ability...

Arcana- My goodness, the main character in this has almost everything you asked for but the plot becomes so confusing I had to drop it. xD 'Twas a good read until then!

And when it comes to personality, there's Switch Girl!!- The lead girl acts cool and fashionable at school but in reality she's a (perverted) slob. xD Though somewhere along the line I dropped this... can't remember why.

Arakure - Girl trying to hide the fact that she's a Yazuka
Not really-but Kaichou wa Maid-sama!-she is hiding something, the fact that she works in a maid cafe

Moonchild - female lead is a beautiful mermaid but appears as a little boy most of the time

Kaguya Hime - female lead has to pretend to be someone else who looks exactly like her, also sometimes goes berserk and becomes a killing machine

Magic - female lead isn't who everyone thinks she is, she doesn't even know it

Angel Sanctuary - nobody in this manga is what/who they initially appear to be

Please Save My Earth - about kids who starts to remember their previous life as aliens

Helter Skelter - main character is a beautiful and popular model/actress, but in reality she's a nasty mean bitch slowly losing her sanity as her beauty deteriorates.

Kisshou Tennyo - MC fools almost everyone in her school into seeing her as the ideal beautiful girl, but in reality she's one scary and dangerous woman.

Basara. It's not just that she's a girl pretending to be a guy. The male lead has no idea that she is who she is. So her identity is sort of kept a secret from nearly everyone in one way or another. She even keeps her personality under wraps a fair amount of the time. Although the art is a little old, it is a classic.
