This is a very general question, which I ask because I'm curious. If anybody is interested in the actual headphones I'm choosing between, message.

I buy the 5$ headphones, so which is cheaper?
It's like really easy, I don't hear the difference and I don't care.
If you can hear the difference you might want to buy the better one, but I doubt it.
Also it depends on what you want them for: Inside, outside or just a fashion statement?

Honestly, between Sony and Sennheiser, I'd definitely go for the latter, but within the price-range, I have a pair of Sony headphones with Bass Boosters, and a pair of Sennheisers without. Hence, I'm a bit stuck. I mostly listen to Rock, and I'm trying to find out exactly how much difference the Bass Boosters will make.
Edit: Another question. If the bass on a pair of headphones is tuned to enhance the Hip-Hop/Dance music experience, how does it affect the Rock experience? :/

If you want actual good sound, go with a Sony like a MDR-V6 or maybe a Grado SR60i. Go Koss Porta Pro if you're too cheap for that, but never Skullcandy unless you just want it for looks and don't care about sound.
@Myuym: there's huge difference between even $30 headphones and $5 ones. Go try a Koss Porta Pro then switch to your cheap $5 ones before doubting.

Even though I'd love to for the Koss Porta Pro, they aren't available here =| I'm not sure whether Amazon would deliver or not, or if it would even accept the currency. My choices seem to be Sony MDR-XB300, or Sennheiser HD 205. If you can suggest better headphones that might be available here, that would be awesome.

Sound wise, Sony wins hands down. Skullcandy is like the name implies, it's just eye candy. If you're looking for something that sounds good and looks good, try the Sony PIIQ series or Urbanears. PIIQ stylelooks closer to skater wear style while Urbanears is more casual and versatile.
If you're looking for sound quality (assuming budget is no issue), go for Sennheiser, Audiotechnica, Bose, Marshall. If you care about bass in particular, I recommend Beats (they look kinda douche baggy but they sound really good) or a cheaper alternative, headphones by the House of Marley.
And I totally agree it's better to save up for a decent headphone than go through a bunch of cheapos. If budget is an issue and you only care about sound quality and not the look, I recommend Sennheiser HD 202 II. I have this one and this is more studio headphones and not ones you take outside.
(Sorry for the store link, it's the one store that has everything but you can always find it in Amazon)

Yes -_-
Edit: Apparently, the Sennheiser HD-Series HD202 did somehow find their way here. And my primary, and basically only, concern is sound quality.
So now, after some more research, drooling, and budget stretching, the options become Sony MDR-XB300, Sennheiser HD202, or Sennheiser HD448.

If you're willing to shell out over $100 for a Sennheiser, I recommend getting a Bose still. Bose sounds totally different than any other headphones, even a non-audiophile will recognize it.
