I think the reason has been justified just too many times already: He's a douchebag/tard/dick/asshole/dumbass/moron/idiot....the list goes on!

The first answer that came to my mind was "Cauz people love Naruto" xD
And i kinda like chars that kinda leaves everyone and goes his own way and does whatever he wants , but i dont like or dislike sasuke for some reason
i dont even think theres a fav char in Naruto for me , but my memory sucks so i might just be lying right now xD

because sasuke is retarded? plain and simple, he's stupid and contradictory. if he really cared about his family that much, wouldn't he think to himself, would they want this? it's such simple logic and yet he doesn't, despite going out of his way, really out of his way, to do all this crap

He used to be one of my favourite characters but not anymore because he killed my otha favourite character Itachi, well he was dying anyway but still Sasuke contributed. Also cus He stands in the way of a relationship between Sakura and Naruto. I want him dead quik lol. I hope so badly that Naruto kills him.

I think its the mangaka's fault for not being able to "convert" the character from "avenger" back to the normal stream of the manga.
Its ok to be bent on avenging the clan and all against his brother: but when its settled, its done, come on. Okay, maybe you want to kill also Danzou for being the real culprit of the Uchihas' slaughter? Ok but everyone else is out of the count (friends/savers/companions and such)
Instead the mangaka still makes him act like this, overall stupidly. Its like a person that is nailing a nail with a hammer and when the work is done, still continues to bash it with the hammer. Stupid no? Well its this "unreasonability" that in my opinion pisses off most of the people (count me in).
His char was deprived of all the depth it could have, now its mm like a figurative char, its just "the BAD boy/betrayer/bandit", no more Sasuke or such. Its an ideal figure the ones you see in theatre: its representing an idea, not much more.

He was so full of himself. He say he will kill hanzo like he will kill some nobody.. He talk big.. He was too strong, i mean to fight on par with the kage. Aren't kage suppose to be the strongest ninja in the country.. He think he was the only one that was in pain..He left his hometown because he dun wan he's friend getting killed. WTF is that..Are ninja in konaha that weak?? Aren't konaha suppose to be one of the strongest village..So now he try to destroy his own hometown that he try to protect in the first place..@#@$%$@$@
Honestly I hate naruto more cuz he's too gay..
