Basically I'm looking for a character that nobody can figure out. I would prefer a girl in a seinen to be the enigma, but thats adaptable. Note, I don't want weird like haruhi suzumiya, I want mysterious. Examples include:

Sundome: In this manga, the girl is unexplainable. She has an air of mystery the entire series, and her niche is that she'd do sexual things with the guy, but won't let him orgasm.

Nozoki Ana: In which the girl is determined to remain a voyeur. She likes the guy, but continuously makes strange decisions that hurt many, sometimes herself.

Please state how you believe your lead relates to my specifications.
P.S. I want it to be the lead, not a side love interest

Yuuko (if that's her real name...and it's not) from xxxHolic has a mysterious air around her. She is a witch and the owner of the shop that grants wishes. She turns the male lead into an unwilling part-timer in order for his wish to be granted and the other wishes she grant tend to have less than favorable (or sometimes just weird) results. She's seems to care little aside from profit. I'm just digging into it myself really....and it doesn't seem she does sexual favors despite being eye-candy.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
It's far more notable in Tsubasa Chronicles since her existence is outside of their spectrum. In xxxHolic, which is more of a sidestory to the former, we see her upclose and personal. The only downside is that it doesn't exactly fit your specifications in that it's apparent that she's working for the greater good. The plus side is that how significant her words and actions are don't become evident until later and that some feelings are ambiguous. Both series are on my On Hold Lists because they're soooo long and are part of a mind screw multi-universe which coincidentally or not Yuuko is a chessmaster of.

Kisshou Tennyo is the aura she came initally since I've also started reading but there is no sex as it is shoujo and I don't know if there is any romance with her and another character.

My Mysterious Girlfriend would fit if there weren't traces of weird, but she is mysterious and isn't anything like Haruhi and is more laidback/apathetic. Also it's fetish fuel, but again no sex.

It is hard to find such characters that are the leads or even recurring characters without them doing a Heel Face Turn or plain unlikable. This is all I could find in these four hours of searching sorry. ^ ^"

If I started reading xxxholic I would want to read all the clamp stuff and I am t not doing that. I had enouh trouble catching up to conan.

But I intended to put Mysterious Girlfriend X in my list of examples. It fits perfectly. She is a perfect enigma. Thanks for trying.

You could try Cock Robin o Korosu no wa. There are only a few scanlated chapters, but enigmatic characters abound (and the plot itself is somewhat mysterious).

If you want a solid plot with a central mystery, then Tasogare Otome x Amnesia would probably be a good match. Working with the idea of amnesia, the story gets more complicated as time goes on.

If you're ok with novels, I'd suggest you to try Hakomari. It's true that you pretty much figure out Maria/Aya by end of book 1, but there are other twists about her down the road later. Also the beginning is pretty epic, a pretty transfer student who announces to be there to destroy the main character, is there anything more mysterious? The series is also incidentally a masterpiece, so...

Also I'd say Mirai Nikki's Yuno (she's obsessionally in love with MC and well I can't say more without spoilers) can fit your requirements, but it's not a series I like, so up to you.

Also Hekikai no AiON, but I don't know maybe she's more weird than enigmatic, not really sure, I also read it a while ago and don't clearly remember her.

Also Prunus Girl, maybe? I dropped it pretty fast but if I don't remember wrongly he/she doesn't let the MC know if he/she is a boy or a girl for no apparent reason.

I finished both of these, but they are perfect examples of what I'm looking for. Both the swan and the vampire in Vampire Juujikai as well as the girl in Hoshi no Samidare.

Finished Mirai Nikki a long time ago. I'm in love with Yuno, but she isn't an enigma, just psychotic smile

Prunus Girl is really interesting

I want characters where you or the main character don't know the enigmas modus operandi. Like when the bad guy joins the hero in a random shonen, and nobody trusts him and he does nothing to earn that trust from the hero, but thats not really an enigma when you know he's the bad guy.

How about Teppu. That's if you like martial art.

Enigmatic:
Cheese in the Trap - You have absolutely no idea what the male protagonist is thinking until at least the later chapters (even then, its still very vague)
Yuutai Nova - been a while, but the female lead was very mysterious. Similar in personality to the female in Nozoki Ana, if i remember correctly.

Maybe:
Misumaruka Koukoku Monogatari - the prince acts very innocent (and perverted), but in fact is rather manipulative.
Annarasumanara - the magician is enigmatic at the start.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
His air of mystery disappears at the end, so avoid if you wish for the character to remain mysterious

Kiba no Tabishounin - The Arms Peddler - been a while, but i believe the female lead was very mysterious.
Princess Resurrection - very, very long time since i have read it, but i think the female lead counts. Not sure at all about this one tho.
Zennou no Noa - The World of Lostmemories - Both leads are mysterious. However, it has a rushed ending.
Kuroshitsuji - You don't really know the objective of both the butler and the master until later.

Teppu isn't enigmatic at all. You know what everyone wants right from the start. I want manipulative people or people whose actions you just can't explain normally. And yet despite how odd these people get, nobody wants to break free of them. There's just something about them that compels the other characters to them. Maybe Light Yagami without the obvious goal of world domination?

Perhaps Seol Hui?
I found her mysterious and hard to figure out.
Even though the first volume is told from her point of view you have no idea of her motivation and real feelings. And she is manipulative.
