rofl, Obito's answer is stupid. Totally unsatisfying whatsoever.
I think Kishimoto doesn't do a good job on portraying realistic characters' intentions, behaviors, and motives. I supposed realistic is a wrong word here but at least be somewhat believable.

Exactly what i thought  I find it kinda hard to swallow that someone gets such a desire to destroy the world because a girl he liked, and didn't like him died, that's really weird, because I have no doubt that a lot of people had girls like that in the ninja war and yet they don't have such desires lol.

Well, that was pretty damn cliche of a villians excuse, but if he was alive the whole time why not stay by the girls side so she maybe wouldn't have died.

Thats the reason I still don't believe that this is really Obito.  It doesn't suit to Obito shown in Kakashi Gaiden. And it's annoying half of the chapter was filled with flashbacks.... it could have been shown in 1-2 pages...

Ok, so now I'm confused. That's why he wants to bring about the end of the world?! A girl! I guess it's a better reason than his puppy running away, but come on man...it's not like somebody lost your Rush mix tape or something. You've mastered all of these techniques, but you're still completely immature?!
Also, how long is it going to take to find out who is actually behind all of this? Half of the chapter was page by page recap of the Kakashi arc (I'm pretty sure they just cut and pasted that) and the other half was basically Obito telling us that he is a reanimated corpse.

Wft! you mean the author lead us on chapter to chapter about the great "tobi" only to find out this guy is only destroying the world because a girl he liked died? I mean Tsunade lost her little brother and the guy she liked but did she decided for world conquer?? Anyone, I think Obito was probably helped by Madara .He probably mixed obito cells with either zetsu or his own because as you can see, Obito is not fully human any more and if he was helped by Madara he must have been brainwashed into believing that this world is no good.
I'm still shocked that the only thing the author can come up with is stating that a girl die for him to destroy the world O_o

I don't believe that was Obito's only motivation or that that is all there is behind it.
How come Madara knows who Obito is? Why did Obito talk about himself as if his name wasn't Obito, but then decides to pull out the Rin card when questioned? There is still the question of how Obito managed to survive that rock slide, or if he did at all.
I'm positive Madara has something to do with it and that Madara is the reason Obito is who he is today. Of course, we don't have all the answers, but we'll probably get a few of them within a few weeks. My prediction is something along the lines of Madara corrupting Obito. Similar to the Tobi to Sasuke thing, but over a longer period of time, before Madara somehow died.

I definitely agree with kirabook that that might not be all to why Obito wants to destroy the world...I feel like Kishimoto isn't that dumb to use that as the only reason, but then again I could be wrong. I'm just wondering why everyone's accepting that answer as if it's the only reason...hopefully I'm right about this lol, that there is something else that motivates Obito to do what he has done ><;

Because Naruto and other shonen series have used stupider reasons for doing terrible things. Basically, there's a precedent for it.

But why trust Tobi now? No too long ago, he was prancing around claiming he was Uchiha Madara. He's a pretty big at deception. I wouldn't be surprised if he just said those things to make Kakashi *Naruto and Gai's strategist* less willing to fight.
Pretty big advantage to screw with his fighting capabilities and concentration, so why not.

It will be even more disappointing if Naruto's 'Speech no Jutsu" works on Tobi and Madara.
I expected Kishi will only come up with that ridicuolous and too repetitive reason.
