Hello guys. I just need some help. First of all let me start by introducing myself. I am a year 12 student. My name is Jetro but you guys can call me Jet. The reason why I'm here is because I need some ideas for my next artwork. The main theme for my artwork is "Life".

Here is the first artwork that I came up with(Taken a week ago). http://i49.tinypic.com/103tock.jpg I have finish this artwork and I want to move on and do my next one. I carved the evolution process and then added a fat guy at the end. I named the artwork "Survival of the fittest" being sarcastic.

For my next artwork I want it to be related to my first artwork but the idea is to use the "Tree of life" as the main theme. This is where I am stuck. I don't know what to do and I'm out of ideas.

Any replies will be appreciated good or bad.

P.S. I am not doing painting so that's out of the question.
I don't mind doing some papercraft. Matter of fact I would love to do some paper crafting.
Drawing is a no go

THANK YOU!

You could make a 3D representation of Yggdrasil.

I'm not sure if you're into wood carving but I was thinking a wood carving of Yggdrasil would be pretty cool.

A model that has 3 dimensions.

And I agree with forgottenone666 that wood would be the ideal material; however, if you're not good at carving wood, you could try using clay (if you're afraid it'll break, you could first make a skeleton out of wire and mould the clay around it).

Make saplings sprouting out of gallows.
Don't care how you do it, but as an idea, that is what I'd go for.

Though I do think that artists should come up with their own ideas.
Other people might like your work after it is ready, but I couldn't call a work that
I didn't brew myself my own or feel proper pride, just like drawing
a replica out of another drawing feels hollow.

@Mamsmilk I get what you're saying but desperate times call for desperate measures. I have 3 weeks left and I'm having an artist's block.

is this considered art?
you put a fatman on the evolution line

and now you want help?

take a bucket
fill it with carrots
name it
food[for the human race] that way it links to you earlier work and it makes fun of fat ppl since they only eat things that make them fat...not things that are actually good for them

You...clearly have no sense of humor, art, you...should just....

anyway, about the tree of life, that's a hard subject to tackle if you're new, I don't do 3D so...

I suggest you do a lot of research before you start, I guess that's the only tip I can give you

I gave it a quick research on wikipedia and found out that in the Ancient Egypt religion there was an "acacia tree of lusaaset" that is from where Isis and Osiris where born; the Egyptians referred to it as the tree of life that enclosed life and death. I found that a good starting point for an idea.
Why don't you create a flat platform with a tree in each bottom; one representing Life, the other Death. Pick up your fat man and put him on the border, struggling to keep on the life by an arm or two but being strongly pulled by a really heavy weight attached to the Death tree, called "LAZYNESS" or "SLOTH".
I can draw you a picture if you want a better view of the idea.
I hope I could at least help you a little.
Please tell us how it worked out after your done ;D

If you have nothing to input expect negative comments you should probable not be here.
Well only idea i have is pretty much derived from Atanos's sloth which made me think of the seven deadly sins, using tree as a metaphor for human and having the roots in an image of the seven sins.

Dude...listen to what the guy said and do some research and stop being smartass.
And for a tasteless guy like you to talk about anything of value in the art world...I think we're the ones who should feel sad....for you.
I get the reference and I find it pretty funny laugh
