I am not a fan of tsunderes. Most are pretty much generic annoying characters. I hate spineless characters who let tsunderes push them around too. Though my friend says I act like a tsundere but I think I'm more of a thugdere. (jk...)

Aww, so much hate! I think that it really depends on the tsundere. I'm not a fan of violent tsunderes who constantly take their issues out on other people. But Sumire from Kimi wa Pet is one of my favourite heroines and IMO a realistic and well-written character, so definitely they can be good as well. It just depends on how far the mangaka decides to venture into stereotype/absurdity.

Don't mistake tsun for tsundere. It doesn't go well bigrazz

I hate tsunderes because when it was popular, they were being used to define the character instead of as just one facet of the character's personality. It's lazy character design, and I hate the trope because it facilitates boring characters due to authors pandering to the fans. At least yandere tries to explain itself through traumatic pasts. Tsundere on the other hand is basically it's just part of their personality!

If I hear Kugimiya Rie I almost always drop the anime because she does the same type of character in everything now.

Unless they're like Sae from Hadi Girl, then no. SOME tsunderes are annoying. Especially the self-righteous tsunderes - two character traits that should NEVER go together. Especially when they jump to conclusions a lot and always assume the male lead is a pervert without giving him a chance to explain himself. Other than that, no, I don't hate them.

Cookie-cutter tsundere's are annoying, but in retrospect, any cookie-cutter archetype is annoying.

A good tsundere will have more facets to his or her personality outside of "I-It's not like I did this for you or anything!"

I really dislike tsunderes.

I find them very unreasonable and just plain annoying. I can't for the life of me figure out why they have to resist and throw insults when there's a completely obvious (and easier) course of action. I'm sorry, but plot has been wasted and filler chapters created just because some character resists something that is so obviously good for them and will happen anyway.

I especially hate tsunderes who are STILL tsunderes when they're already going out with protagonist or some other poor soul. I find that kind of relationship just plain poison. All the blushing and cuteness isn't worth it in my opinion. (going to bold that just in case)

And it's funny because everyone says that I'M a tsundere (and I sadly agree).

Quote from Astral100
Wow, I think everyone is missing the point here.

The reason people tend to hate stories with tsunderes is not because of the girs themselves, but because of the weak and spineless loser protagonists that lets the girls abuse him.
If a guy would stand up for himself no tsundere behaviour would be h ...

Well, if the MC is a wimp in general then I've got no objections, at least he's consistent in being a loser. Too bad that this kind of character is in like 90% of romantic-centered anime. A normal dude who is overhelmed by all the girls surrounding him is way too common...

I despise tsunderes! So much so that if a character appears in an anime/manga, I drop it.

Stigma of the Wind (Kaze no Stigma) took me a YEAR to finish. That girl irked me to tears ><

This is going to seem like a double standard, I'm sure. I don't really like female tsundere characters. They drive me nuts. I have however, been known to love some male tsundere characters. I guess it's because there's less of the squealing, and the vulnerablity (imho) adds a facet to their personality.

Unlike some posters, I don't disapprove of the character type. After all, people themselves are the biggest force of resistance toward personal improvement, so I don't find it unrealistic that a person might strongly resist something that's good for them. I do find it annoying, sometimes.

Played correctly, the "character type" can add a lot to a character. People can have many different reasons for acting that way, and it's not particularly unrealistic, so long as the author doesn't take the trope to ridiculous ends (which happens more often than it should...).

Anyway.

My two cents.

I've pretty much disliked tsunderes before I even knew what tsundere was. They're just not my cup of tea. But there was one (a female no less) that made it onto my favorite characters list so I guess it just depends on how they work in their respective stories.

I dont mind tsunderes really. Except for the typical cliche violent tsundere. There are exceptions like Eris from mushoku tensei, but that was only at the start so now i am quite fond of her.

I hate violent and stuttering tsundere and even more so the weak willed fools that falls in love with them or worse not in love but seems to accept their constant beating.

Is there a male violent tsundere that beats his female romance? Never read or heard of such a manga but it may exist.
