This week's poll is from our member xCrystal. The question is a little long, and it applies to a very specific situation, but have at it. Ichigo 100% anyone? I bet most of us would still keep reading, but we'd be super mad in the end.

You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related):
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: Would paper quality affect your decision to buy a physical copy of the manga?
Choices:
Paper quality matters a lot! - votes: 1999 (18%)
I'd buy as long as paper quality was above a certain minimum value - votes: 6219 (56.1%)
Bad quality is fine - votes: 220 (2%)
Don't care - votes: 2638 (23.8%)
There were 11076 total votes.
The poll ended: September 22nd 2012

The follow-up question is what is your "minimum"... As a side comment, it's amazing how people don't accidentally tear their Bibles apart since many Bibles use the thinnest paper you'd ever see in a book.

Ugh, it's hard to say. But that's not why I stopped reading Bleach. (Ichihime supporter here.) (I stopped reading because v22+ went completely downhill.)

It depends how much focus on romance the series has, and how important the pairing is to that person. If Naruto went with Sakura at the end instead of Hinata, I'd still continue reading, albeit reluctantly, because Naruto is really freaking good, and Kishi-sensei has kept up the quality really well.
With Beelzebub, I know Oga will end up with Helda, but I'm still going to root for Kunieda. Though I mean HeldaxKunieda, not OgaxKunieda. Ohohoho! Even if the former happens, I'll keep reading because that manga is absolute gold, ignoring the flaws in the art. (The mangaka can't draw heels to save his life. He also has no fashion sense.)
With Negima!, I was rooting for an impossible pairing anyway (hint: Fate). I kept reading for the story, though.
Not many people are satisfied with the pairings in Harry Potter, but they read it nonetheless (while grumbling) because, well, it's such an amazing series.

But if my main series DGM, if the protagonist got the girl, I'd drop it immediately and even send complaints (if that pairing happened, it'd be just to feed the masses. Their relationship feels too incestual.) That's becoming less likely, fortunately. Hopefully, the protagonist whom I love so dearly will die together with the other one I love dearly. That's my ideal ending, anyway. Ohohoho...
If it were Kashimashi, which is heavily romance based (yuri), where the main character chose the really annoying childhood friend with unstylish and homely pigtails, over an elegant flower, I'd stop and burn the whole series. Of course.

I would still keep on reading, because for me, it's not a strong enough reason to drop a series because I didn't get the couple I wanted to see get together. It's not my story, it's the mangaka's, and if they wanted to end it with that couple, then so be it.

If its a long series I drop it. I dropped Nana as soon as I realized she would get stuck with

the long haired cheater. Nana O, Nobu, both, or even Hachi remaining single would have been better.
I really loved this series at one point but I hate that character so much. It felt like his arrival was the start of a downfall. It was so fun before he showed up.

Continue reading. Simple, there's not many pairings I like. If I get picky on every one of them, there'll be no more manga left to read.

More times than not, I don't like the protagonists.

Keep reading mainly. There are a few pairings out there that I can't stand or know what happen no matter how much I wish for it.Besides sometimes good authors will throw you for a loop or two in the process with the pairings. I'm not one to Rage quit a series over a pairing though Ichigo 100% was the one manga that has pushed me the closest to doing such that.

Why is there no "I dont care what the final romantic pairing is going to be" choice?

I picked "drop", but that's mainly because with the type of manga I tend to read the main characters not ending up together is so retarded that the manga deserves to be dropped. I don't tend to read manga with multiple pairing possibilities, because I absolutely hate the drama usually associated with it. I read manga to relax, not to be annoyed and tense.

I don't think I've ever had a preferred pairing where there was a choice, and if I have, I haven't cared enough to make it worth dropping a manga.

Probably because it defeats the purpose of the question?

If "you don't care what the final romantic pairing is going to be," then you weren't really rooting for anyone to begin with, were you?

Me? I don't care who ends up with who. So how did I vote? I didn't. Why? Because I DON'T CARE.

I'd keep reading because in the end I'm there for the story as a whole and not the romance, but I'm always a little disappointed when the final pairing is main character / first guy/girl he or she meets in the story. That goes double when the main character has more romantic chemistry with someone else anyway or the love interest is super dull and is more of a trophy for the main character once he/she wins at everything. I'm sure it could be done by a talented enough writer, but I can't remember the last time it was done well. Usually it's just cliched and boring. I think the biggest problem I have with the whole thing is that the final pairing is often telegraphed by the author but they'll still try to pay lip service to the idea that there's a possibility of the main character ending up with someone else. Everyone already knows that won't happen, so in the end it's pointless.

I just don't want the whole first love thing to work out 100% (or some other ridiculously high number) of the time, is that too much to ask? At least give them some actually meaningful bumps in the relationship to overcome, geez.

tl;dr I want more realistic romances

I would drop the series, I guess.

Actually, "drop" isn't really the right word. Since I will still go search for wiki summaries and future updates on the storyline if I really like the main character. I'll just abstain from reading the actual manga, and just go hunt for fanfics or doujins of the pairing I like.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I dropped GE (Good Ending) after I realized that Utsumi still has lingering feelings for Kurokawa Yuki, even after having sex with his first love crush.

It just means that Utsumi and Yuki will somehow go back to being lovers.

I rarely read romances, and the ones I do don't have all these extra love interests and junk, it's just the two main characters and their life and turmoil and whatnot.
