Suppose that there's a manga. It could be about anything. It had its big heyday, it brought upon a lot of laughter & tears, drama & suspense, anything to keep going, and it finally reached a conclusion. If it's a romance series, maybe the protagonist gets the girl, and they live happily ever after. Or if it's an action series, the final major villain has been defeated, and the world is saved.

By the end of it all, sometimes there's an epilogue, and it's usually no more than a few chapters long. Then it's finally over.

But what if it didn't end? What if the primary objective has been cleared, but they just kept going? Does anything like that exist?

Then it'll usually be accused of dragging it out...

But I know what you mean.

Isn't that something that most 'successful' shounen series do? After the villain defeated, comes the other tougher villain...

Jojo's bizarre adventure series can be counted as one of those, what with those arcs (not that I don't like it, btw, it's fun and interesting)

Lovely Complex had another story after the conclusion in the anime (no idea how it went in the manga though) I guess they did got to the conclusion too soon in the anime and had to make a few more episodes to fill the remaining time of season.

I'd say you can consider Usagi Drop falling in this category. The volumes after the big time skip (basically half manga) are the "epilogue" of the story of him raising Rin. If you consider that the main reason of the story, all that part sounds like an (unnecessary imho) epilogue.
Maybe you can consider also Sword Art Online (novel) similar to what you asked, but it's more
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
there is another reason to go on, totally different from the previous one, rather than "everything is ended" even if literally speaking everything (=the SAO world) is ended
.
But I mostly agree with FormX: if there is not reason to continue, why drag it?
