This week's poll comes from the mind of mu2020. Let's talk about your parents, shall we? Since they're of the older crowd, I do doubt they've tried, but we shall see!

You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related):
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: In manga, do you consider the majority of characters to be Asian?
Choices:
Always do - votes: 4071 (31.9%)
No, they look Caucasian - votes: 1982 (15.5%)
Only when portrayed in Asian society - votes: 6728 (52.6%)
There were 12781 total votes.
The poll ended: October 13th 2012

I've always found the anime eyes fascinating since most Asians have small eyes (including me)

I need a "they think I'm silly reading comics and watching cartoons at my age" option. They never have, and most likely never will, try manga.

Quote from The Steed
I was never born, I just came into existence.

Yours Truly,
The Steed.

Tch, typical. Where's the "I don't have parents" option?? How do you expect The Steed to vote??

Gee.

I think my mom & step-dad have both tried manga but neither really got into it. There is some anime they like, but they don't watch it regularly. Of course, they're both 70 years old, so... laugh

I love manga & read a lot, and watch some anime, but my kids aren't so into it. none

They aren't interested in the slightest.

I wouldn't even dream of trying to convert them either.

My dad used to love anime but stopped watching. He tried, I guess.

Depends on the quality of the show. I can/I have gotten my 56-year-old mother to watch something quirky like Squid Girl, and a drama like Tokyo Magnitude 8.0. I've also gotten my dad to watch things like Ghost in the Shell. However, most of the in general bullshit, no.

For my mother anime, cartoon or anything like that = for kids.
So she never even tried to watch one, even though i'm sure there's a few anime she would enjoy watching.

Back as a child, my mum would used to watch anime - never cartoons - with me. Recorded them all on VHS for me. Otherwise, I don't think she would have bothered.

Me and my sister on many occasions have tried to get my parents to watch anime or read manga. So far the only success we found was Death Note and Mobile Suit Gundam 00. We still haven't been able to watch either of these series though. It's so hard to get my whole family to sit down and watch. It's like trying to catch a wild tiger with your bare hands. cry

Mine would watch it with my siblings and I when I was younger, stuff like Sailor Moon, DBZ, and Hamtaro. They don't really care much for it though. It really depends on the plot actually, if its a more mature anime they might like it. Mom watched and liked Casshern Sins but she thinks DBZ is a waste of time (come on, mom. it's a classic!).

Manga they will never appreciate the value of. roll eyes
