I was wondering if there are any series that could be somewhat comparative or similar to the book or the 1984 film adaption of Dune. I would prefer if you look for something comparative to the film because I still need to read the freakin' book.
If your going to ask what I specifically want, don't. The reason being is that I want to see what you people can compare with and then see if I can enjoy the series myself as well.

Just go read Dune. Seriously. Or listen to the audio book narrated by George Guidall.

I agree, just read the book. It's better than any adaptation. It may seem a bit difficult because it's long and complicated, but once you start it turns out to be so interesting that you can't stop reading (at least I couldn't).

I do plan on reading the book, I even own the book and a few of it's sequels. I just need to finish reading a few books that I have to read for school first. So please, drop it.

How hard is it to pick up a book that you need to get through others before you can read it? Why can't you read more than one book at a time? Jeez, if I still had Dune to read for the first time I'd be thrilled...
Yeah, I didn't drop it.

There is one that actually has the massive sand worm things similar to dune. It also has a space travelling clan at war with humans with more primitive/clan-like clothing and ways of life:
God Pretender
Theres also the anime movie vexille that has a similar sand worm thing. And other mangas that have a worm like that are Tsubasa reservoir chronicles and Psyren. Psyren also has things like fore sight, telepathic abillities and various sci fi elements, so that would be more similar to dune than Tsubasa.
Also the desert and the prophecy of a man leading them to freedom is like basara
Also it slightly reminds me of Angel at war and candidate for goddess, the way that the different factions fight over a specific land or resources.

You keep bumping, but you didn't give any feedback on the titles already suggested. Were they close? What did you like? What did you not like? Can you narrow it down a little?
Did you even check them out at all?

I agree with sunder. You keep bumping and opening new crazy threads like this one: http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=38194, but do you really need stuff to read? You didn't even read the actual book "Dune" and you keep asking for more stuff. Not that this is forbidden, but I'm not exactly thrilled to look into my lists of stuff and wasting time for something that maybe you'll never check.
Since I don't like making rants without suggesting something, here my 2 cents: The Lord of the Sands of Time by Issui Ogawa.

You want to know what happens? I check back every 15 minutes to every hour. If i find a series that I think will be something different than what I'm used to, I'll read it. If not, I'll bookmark it for a later read. Also, I have a bunch of things on the back log, Dune happens to be one of them. I'm having more free time recently and I'm starting to get caught up and finish a lot of things. Also, the main reason I open up some of those crazy topics is because sometimes I really just want something that is just way out there. As far as giving feedback, I admit, that isn't something that I have really done. I try getting better that.
