It was also discovered earlier than that that Rasengan was an attempt to duplicate the tailed beast bomb. Therefore, the two signature techniques of the Fourth Hokage are attempts to recreate abilities that Kushina (his wife) would have used as the nine tails jinchuuriki. Not quite 99% admittedly, since his third shown technique was the Shiki Fuujin, and that was just part of his obsession with the nine tails and his wife's sealing specialist clan. I was merely pointing out that I found it odd. Edit: Here's another interesting thought along the same lines. Tobi used chakra chains similar to Kushina's to bind the tailed beasts while they weren't inside Gedo Mazo. The source of this technique could either be the Rinnegan/Gedo Mazo, or the Uzumaki bloodline. Maybe it's not a fluke that Madara gave Uzumaki Nagato his Rinnegan eyes. His reasoning was that Naruto would eventually have to deal with Tobi AKA Obito. He also based it off of the Tailed beast bomb. His wife would not have been taught these because back then they were simply considered hostages back in there village she would have been a house wife so to speak. The only thing i think that might not be speculation is the thing u said about Obito using those chains. ________________ Chidori Stream

Well, first of all, Rasengan couldn't possibly be "for Naruto" because it took him 3 years to create, then he taught it to Jiraya which took even more time. He died on the day Naruto was born and Naruto wasn't the original choice for the Jinchuuriki. He was only given the Ninetales because Obito ripped it out of his wife during the birth. If Obito, whom he had no idea was alive much less would attack, hadn't attacked, Kushina would have lived on longer as the Kyuubi jinchuuriki and Naruto would have grown up in much the same way as Konohamaru, spoiled and insufferable. Secondly, I never said they were "for his wife," I said that they were to allow himself to duplicate things she would have already been able to do. In short, they were "inspired" by Kushina. If she had any semblance of control over the Kyuubi, which from how she helped Naruto she seemed to have, she would have exhibited these two basic characteristics (yellow flash super speed and tailed beast bomb). Upon seeing these, Minato set out to make a version for himself to use. He succeeded with the yellow flash through a time-space jutsu, and failed to get it quite right with rasengan (unable to throw it, unable to combine an element). It's almost as though he became Hokage by using her techniques to prove something (or out of a sense of competition... which would be a fun side story), but that really is speculation. Third, please explain what you mean by "hostages" and "house wife." Kushina's story didn't mention anything like that. She was a ninja in the same way that Sakura or Tsunade is. I see no indication that once she married Minato she was benched. Granted, pregnancy probably removed her from missions for a while, as it has with Kurenai.
