I'm also in favor for this, I'd prefer lately to search manga based on the main characters as, as charcter design is an important factor.
It would also be good for searching in the catagories, as their is a big difference in a tag for a main or minor character. The catagories database doesn't make a difference in it.
It is also annoying that you need to go to three other sites for having more info on the characters. 
Regarding this, mangaupdates is still the best site for manga info

Aside from contributor work load and maybe a little work for site moderators (if you wanted to include the option in search, e.g.), I can't think of any cons to this, but maybe someone in the community will. Anyways, just putting it out there. Thanks for the great site.
