I often hear that these two don't mix that well. But I'd like to see some god examples. Does anyone know of any good shounen with a well developed romance? Preferably one that doesn't wait until the very end to hook up the main guy and girl. I'd like to go one further read something where the main couple have a functioning romantic relationship for a decent amount of time before the series ends.

Karin Magico (IWAMOTO Naoki) Superior & Superior Cross
yeah there aren't that many...
you could also try Midori no Hibi
I guess you only look for completed ones? If not give these a try: Horimiya Ore ga Akuma de, Aitsu ga Yome de. married, not hooked up but should be fine

Outlanders - The relationship may be on the lighthearted/ecchi side of things, but it is developed far beyond the point most shounen manga reach.

From what I remember (I guess I have a bad memory), I recommend:

Baby Steps Koganeiro Maoyuu Maou Yuusha - "Kono Watashi no Mono Tonare, Yuusha yo" "Kotowaru!" Vampire Juujikai (sort of)
I also consider Blood Alone to have a fairly well developed romance, though the protagonists are not "together" in that sense, and it's (somehow) also labeled as seinen on occasion, so...

Green Boy: Shouting to You maybe, it starts the romance fairly early in the series and is part of the main focus
@Suxim - just pointing out Baby steps's romance is like Hajime no Ippo's, near non existant

Bakuman - This manga. Is. A masterpiece. Mashiro and Azuki are on the same wavelength, and share a dream. He'll become a mangaka and get an anime, and she will voice thd heroine. Perfect couple is perfect. And this is coming from a heterophobe BL/yaoi fan who's sick to death of normal romances. Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle Deadman Wonderland Mirai Nikki - Yandere warning. Durarara!! (novel and anime are waaaay better) Full Metal Alchemist (I still prefer Ed/Roy, but I can't deny that Winry suits Ed well.) Rurouni Kenshin YuYu Hakusho
Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai - Very interesting, harem romance-based, but a bit poorly executed.
I'm on the edge for Hinata in Naruto. I'm rooting for her like insane, despite my main ship in that series being different.
Ehh, I considered Negima, but they're not technically romantic, since uh, it'd be incest.

Some of these suggestions... I don't think people are reading/understanding the OP.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. There are a few that I will be checking out. Although I should probably clarify something. I prefer that the story not wait until the end to hook up the main guy and girl the way that Air Gear did, or Naruto is doing. Is there any shounen where the main couple has a functioning romantic relationship for a good chunk of the story?

Let's see... I guess these will fit? Tasogare Otome x Amnesia - I think their relationship develop well. Rosario to Vampire - Season II - includes some action/ fantasy Yandere Kanojo - a really good read. mostly comedy though, so if you want more drama (like ups and down of their relationship) it may not really fits. Girl x Girl x Boy - okay, it's got some shoujo-ai stuff, but I think the romance part is done quite well. Girls Saurus and its sequel

If I have to choose it would be perhaps Sankarea, Onidere, Watashi no messiah-sama or Psyren

A bunch of titles from me:
- Unbalance x 2 - there is a lot of emphasis on the development of the couple, but there is also a number (although small) of scenes that may annoy you and the last volume was written rather poorly - Tasogare Otome x Amnesia - the main duo became a couple somewhere in the middle of the series - Koharu no Hibi - manga about having a yandere girlfriend; it's not exactly a comedy, so it's quite creepy (just saying) - Nazo no Kanojo X - a shounen manga about a couple (and drool) - Samurai Usagi - it's not all about romance, but the male lead is actually married and almost everything he does is for the sake of making his cute wife happy (kind of similar to Magico (IWAMOTO Naoki))

T: I hope you didn't mean my suggestions. I put a lot of thought into it.
