This might be a challenge.

With at least tolerable art (or good enough story to make up for it).

Can be cooking, baking, pastry art, etc. Ideally something that involves a lot of research and explains processes, sort of like Yakitate Japan, but more believable than 972794318 layered croissants. (Not really like Toriko, which doesn't explain much at all and is completely fictional.)

Ideally something like Bartender, which focuses on service and drinks that heal the soul, provides history and recipes--except for food rather than drinks.

Any genre is fine.

Already read:

Yakitate!! Japan
Kitchen Princess (shush, I was bored)(no, it wasn't good)(but it was interesting)
Yumeiro Patissiere

Dunno if this is what your looking for, doesn't explain the cooking process but is more of a manga about the restaurant, showing mainly the customers and the man cooking/serving Bambino! but because it shows some insight to a restaurant i thought it would fit.

Seconding Bambino!
Hell's Kitchen(Ongoing)
Karei naru Shokutaku - (Ongoing)
Mister Ajikko - (Ongoing)

Hmm... There are few complete and scanlated FOOD manga...

These titles might interest you...

Shinya Shokudou (Ongoing) Kind of a dynamic art
Shoku King
Gin no Saji (Ongoing) There are some food related arcs and they are also explained is what methinks...
