I'm asking "Should Skip Beat Finally Go Hentai?" just for fun! I read the chapter 195 when I realized I've been reading this manga for a WHOLE DECADE! I also probably wasted around a thousand bucks to import the volumes for collection (this is an exaggeration ), what brings me to the question:

Are you satisfied with the timing of the mangaka and the series, are you still a loyal reader or are you getting pissed already?

It is evolving more now, for the last arc, but still... I'm growing old already and I think that Ren and Kyoko should finally have their relationship settled by now.
Mogami-san would 25 by now, which means.... they could hentai already. lol Just kidding. It means they could have married and debut and have kids and everything else.
So, how to you feel about this?

I'm waiting on someone to know on that door to ruin this potentially awesome development, or for Kyoko to freak out.
I would love to see them to have their relationship settled. If that means hentai... smile wink grin
But, I'm not going to complain if it doesn't. I still love the characters and want to see their relationship turn into more than what it is.

I don't think anything is going to be settled soon.
Remember, the main goal of the story is for Kyoko to relinquish her hatred and vengeance for Shou. Since, it all started out as that. (We as readers should know that already) or find another alternative to forget about Shou. Since she still harbors anger at Shou, and Ren's story isn't even done.

Kyoko doesn't even know about Ren's past and doesn't even know yet that Ren is really Corn. AND not to mention, her debut as an actress.
This is really going to be a key factor to push and move the story line on.
Without Ren's past for Kyoko know about, settling her anger with Shou, and her resolve as an actress, the story cannot move on.

About the Hentai genre being thrown in, I don't think it will ever happen. Skip Beat is a shoujo manga, meaning it's PG-13. If it really had an intent to have smutty/hentai content in it, Nakamura-sensei would already made explicit scenes, panty flashes and booby cleavage.

Sorry it's getting long but, yeah. I'm still a loyal reader and I think all of the scenes and archs and plot is interesting. I am not looking for a story where romance is the key to everything. And Skip Beat isn't one like that, it connects you with the characters and how they change throughout the manga. It is what makes it different from others. AND it's not cliche either!

Ahem if you really want to see hentai scenes between Ren and Kyoko, there are always dojinshi created by others. LOL. Other than that don't expect Nakamura-sensei to make them have sex. I had a lot of hope for her other manga Tokyo Crazy Paradise but, in the end the characters didn't even have sex...although there were some nude scenes. laugh

I'm totally a Ren x Kyoko fan! Go Ren! Hopefully we at least get to see them making out very erotically. smile wink grin

I agree with you. Even though I would love for there to be some major developments, I highly doubt anything more than a hickey will come out of this. Still, make out scene is a plus. (like I said earlier, not going to complain either way)

I would love for the next few chapters to mark some sort of milestone for Kyoko and Ren. Seeing as how Kyoko has come to realize that Ren has the same sort of darkness that she herself harbors, and wishing to stop him from falling to her level is an awesome start.

Oh boy, far be it for me to make this into another Skip Beat! is so slow thread, but I'm going to go there anyway. At this point a little bit, no A LOT, of smut would probably be the only reason I'd ever go back to reading this manga. It might justify 30+ volumes of dancing around Shou, Ren, and Kyoko's hang-ups, acting adventures, and chapters of over-reacting and over-thinking of every single thing that happens. You know, I don't even mind most of those aspects of the manga because that's what originally made it so fun. But there is such a thing called excess.

People are dubbing this a "slow romance" as if it was an excuse for the glacial pace the manga has taken. It's not slow because she's developing the story or the characters. It's slow because Yoshiki Nakamura knows that she has a gold mine on her hands and she's milking it for every cent it's worth. She's taken everything that I used to enjoy about the characters, the story and the odd little quirks of Kyoko and sucked the fun right out of it.

I haven't read a chapter since the arc between Ren and his father coming to Japan (and maybe a little more after that). Since then, the story took on a different arc where Ren and Kyoko seemed to have taken on this role of dark, emo, goth-like characters (sister and brother?) And I swear, every update I've seen about Skip Beat since I've quit reading (almost two years ago) has been about that same arc! Maybe I'm wrong, I'll admit that I haven't read it in a while and the only reason I know about it is because a blog I follow frequently updates on Skip Beat and the pictures that she posts almost always seem to be them dressed up for that arc.

Has there been a confession, a kiss? Romance is still a main theme to Skip Beat! and if none of these things have happened yet, then there really hasn't been any development or progression at all in the story. The film and entertainment industry as a whole has always held some interest for me and I've always found any information regarding the real workings in the film industry to be fascinating, but I swear, Nakamura takes the subject matter and somehow manages to bore me to death. She's the only reason why I'm hesitant about picking up any manga that focuses heavily on acting.

I think Skip Beat is the best for the slow developments. Plus its more meaningful if it's slow romance. Look at what happened with Koukou Debut, the story becomes boring when the leads starts to date. Anyway I understand your impatience but while waiting for the romance to progress why not read other Yoshiki Nakamura's masterpiece which is Tokyo Crazy Paradise, you'll enjoy the romance there. BUT if you really want a hentai Skip Beat! I suggest you check the doujinsi. Lol!

Actually that manga never really interested me along with several other manga similar to Skip Beat. Also no I don't think it should go to hentai as it will completely ruin it beyond repair. Maybe they should just speed up the things that are suppose to happen in the next chapters till they get to a main turning point in the story.

I'll have to respectfully disagree. It is possible to have a meaningful series with proper character development without dragging out the process. I guess the difference in opinions must stem from people's expectations in this series. There must be some who treat it as a light read whenever they get the chance and perhaps the romance doesn't really matter. People who fall into this category probably don't mind how the series is now. Me, on the other hand, I do enjoy Skip Beat's crazy comedy, but I also like plot progression and proper pacing. I've read Tokyo Crazy Paradise and while I think it's a good series, it's nowhere near a masterpiece IMO. And that has a lot to do with the terrible rushed ending and the lack of any romance at all once the two were on the same page. The ending is just as important as the beginning and middle of a series.

I guess it's a personal preference, but I like to see the lovey dovey things the couple does after they get together. I think that should be the reader's reward. But yah, I don't really care much for the series now enough to read dj. I've never been a fan of fanfiction related type work (just a preference, nothing against anyone who do it). And to be clear, I don't really care for hentai, I'm okay with smut, but hent is not my thing (and yes there is a difference, at least to me anyway) biggrin

I do not think that development lately has been as slow as people think in a chapter to chapter sense. since if you think about it, they just take too long to put out chapters. one time it will be after two weeks then it might be two months. that is what is truly irritating.
