I think Nisekoi should count and maybe Shaman King Flowers (the sequel to Shaman King, which might also count).
Sorry, I can't really think of anymore. You might see some in the 'Foreigners' category: http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?category=Foreigner% 2Fs

Billy Bat is a good one, the main characters are mostly asian americans. I know that Hetalia was written by a Japanese that was living in the united states for university when he started it, but I think he moved back to Japan since then.

Kuroko no Basuke has a couple of japanese guys that grew up in america.
The main character in Wolf guy wolfen crest lived in America a while
Trash is set in America, but I dunno if the characers are asian, I read it too long ago.
I think one of the characters lived in America for a while in Snow drop and Love in the mask.
This manga is basically what you want, dont know how relevent it is, cos its only in my wish list: East coast.
If you're ok with writing about yaoi, then Undergrand hotel is about a japanese guy thats in an american prison.
They also have asian people in the fashion/hair dressing industries in America in Beauty pop and The one. There was also a japanese actor and his son that lived in America for a while in Skip beat and a photographer that did in ingenuo.

okay with the yaoi point i was wondering if you have read it, "our kingdom", in it i was wondering if the character rei was half japanese. On the other ones I am having issues cause they have to be asian american meaning born and raised her for an extent. So stuff like kuroko no basket where they grew up there but were born in Japan i dont think count in the context from the semester and how my teacher talked. but with wolf guy wolfen crest i am at a loss cause his mom looked like a foreign and he lived in alaska but i dont know. the same with underground hotel ive read it but cant remember if he was a Japanese visiting or Asian American.
East coast on the other hand i added.

In Muv Luv Alternative anime (airing now) the MC, Yuya Bridges, is nippo-american. He's initially not happy to be considered an half/half because his Japanese father abandoned his family.

Ah ok then, what about A Cruel God Reigns I think the mc is Asian American, cos I think his father was Asian. He moves to England later, but it definately starts in America...and he grew up there.

okay so i got the clarification from my teacher. It does not matter about the background as long as it shows an impact on the Asian Americans or them as Asian Americans.
