I have read upto Chapter 150 and I cant say that I'm impressed. Ofcourse, I know its too early to judge the series. The artwork isnt that good if we're talking about female characters who mostly looks alike. (Maybe my eyes are decieving me o.O)

The protagonist is the usual shonen idiot, and the "Nakama" power is just too much to handle.

Seeing its popularity, I give it a go but I'm no longer able to force myself reading this, especially after reading the comments. Below is from one of the comment.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Natsu/Lucy:HI WE'RE FAIRY TAIL AND WE'RE HAPPY YAY!!!
Bad Guy: MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I AM STR0NGER THAN ALL OF YOU!
*Fairy Tail gets their ass handed to them*
Natsu/Lucy: OH NO! LET'S DEFEAT THEM WITH FRIENDSHIP!
Bad Guy: OH SHIT, NOT THE FRIENDSHIP!!!
Natsu: NAKAMA PUNCH!!!
*Bad guy gets his ass handed to him in an instant*
Bad Guy: OH NO! THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING! THE SUPER POWER OF NAKAMA PUNCH IS TOO STRONG!
Natsu/Lucy: YAY!.

Does it have original moments? What about the Plot?

So I want to know if its a series really worthy of time or Is it an another mindless shonen?

A-Are you joking?

Dude, you can drop the politically correct bullshit; it makes you sound phony.

I mean, come on... you mean to tell me that you've read ONE-HUNDRED AND FIFTY chapters and you think THATS too early for you to judge? Three to four years worth of chapters and you're STILL asking whether or not it's original or if it even has a plot?

Seriously? Gimme a break. If you wanna rip on Fairy Tail, then do it.

Do you really need me to tell you your own opinion? Cause... it kiiiinda looks like you've already decided. (Hint: You don't like it.)

"Nakama Punch"...
You've essentially gotten the gist of it
The series was good until the Tenrou Island arc, but of late its just mindless battle, useless new characters and more and more of absurd nakama power...
I'm still reading cuz I liked Rave and have hope Fairy Tail will turn out right biggrin

Yes, I didnt liked it, but I thought maybe it will improve later on. Well, the popularity makes you really curious, and I dont want to miss a good work because of its start. And thats the reason I asked.....
Lol. After reading what I wrote, it really made me sound like a phony.

Where to start....
First off, about that comment you included, stereotypical as it is, it seems unfair to just pin Fairy Tail to that...
I do agree that the plot can sometimes be summerised as overwhelming opponents pressuring the protagonists, beating them to pulps, and then suddenly the power of friendship, bonds and all that jazz comes in like a ray of sunshine and shines down on the protagonists, giving them the power to save the day. But, this concept has always existed in Naruto, Bleach, One piece, Soul Eater...

Naruto gets touchy after watching Sasuke die by Haku, and then he flares up like an inferno.
Ichigo goes through hell in the soul society to save a friend who saved him and his family.
Luffy's all about Nakama ("I still have my nakama!!!" - Luffy).

All of them have that same touchy friendship and bond stuff and look at how popular they are...(now...if were talking about pokemon...that's a whole different story...)

Second, I honestly don't know what to tell you if you didn't like the artwork of Natsu or Erza in their moments....It is what it is, I cannot nor will I attempt to change that fact.

I got hooked on Fairy Tail the first few chapters in, now I don't know how it works with other people, but seriously...150 chapters, and you're getting nothing out of it? That is a sure fire sign that this manga isn't for you.

As for me, I don't really read it for the plot. It's funny (at least for me sometimes), characters are well enough, I like the "couples", artwork is well enough, too much fanservice nowadays, but well, happens everywhere now...

The plot really isn't something that great... And I like the emotional scenes way more than the battle stuff (at least when they are currently not joking or trolling someone).

If you decided that this is just your typical shounen crap with shounen idiot protagonist, well then that's your answer right there, though why did you start reading this anyway?

Well those 3 manga you pointed out don't really get an immense powerup bullshit for no reason or a reason such as friendship, they may have a power that isnt as silly as friendship power for example the hollow thingie and kyuubi now we have at least a proper reason why they powered up. Now with One Piece it is fairly close to friendship power but is more of a last effort with all his strength for the sake of protecting his friends or from encouragement from a friend (Enies Lobby is a good example) where they don't just miraculously gain some unknown strength just because their friends are there and despite being really injured miraculously beat a OP character that is not injured, or hold hands and survive an atomic bomb level explosion -_-

150 chapters, well you already saw everthing Fairy tail has to offer. It get worse then on, mostly because every arc is terrible similar to the one before. I love a good shounen, my favorite genre by far , my problems with fairy tail are:
1. Natsu wins for no reason at all, using his protagonist power a.k.a nakama punch
2. Every arc is really straight, never get any surprises.
3. The artwork is not that great.
Also, i already stop getting emotional on the emotional scenes, the jokes still works, though.
You sound like you don't enjoy shounen for "i too phony for this shit" disease, then stop reading it, no reason for you continue if you didn't enjoy the first 150.

Just to clarify, I like shonen series and maximum of the series I am reading are of shonen demographic. As long as they have good plot/ characters and some original moments, I like them.
Beelzebub, One Piece, Noblesse, Tower of God, FMA, Death Note,Bakuman are some of the shonen I am currently reading and enjoying.I picked them on their popularity...
After seeing Fairy Tail's popularity, I thought it might be a good work like the above ones and hence I decided to read it. Even after 150 chapters I really didnt got anything what I want, except some funny moments.... So I wondered if its get better later on? Are the later chapters the reason for its popularity?
You know there are many works who gets better later on though their starting isnt bright.

I got my answer though... This isnt what I'm looking for.

I disagree with this:

1. As already mentioned, this is a recurring theme between some of the most popular Shounen manga series and if anything, it's good that the characters have some sort of motivation that keeps them fighting. I mean, if it turned out that the manga were more realistic and that the protagonists died because they had no reason to carry on, they'd really stink. But I do get your point.

2. I dunno, I'd say I've been surprised but there have been moments when I've seen things coming (admittedly, those moments tend to be more obvious, but not always), it's really only a matter of perception.

3. Don't all long-lasting manga artwork improve over time? Besides, it's quite similar to One Piece's (which I think has something to do with their mangaka previously being co-workers).

Even if you don't find that this counts or it doesn't sway your opinion, I can still say that I honestly just did this for the self-satisfaction.

EDIT: Don't mind this post.

Basically all this for me too. We know the author can do it. It's just a matter of is he willing and will his editors let him do it. But yeah, if you don't like it, no one is going to hate you.
