Member 6:51 am, Dec 16 2012 Posts: 261	You know this prince type, you always see him in shoujo: rich, beautiful, everyone wants him, he usually has a childhood trauma or a secret drama going on. But he's most often a jerk, cold, arrogant, etc. I want some shoujo manga in which there is a guy of this type who's also sweet--and wins the romance hopefully. The best example I can offer is the famous Ouran Koko Host Club. Tamaki fits the definition very well.

Btw, are you limited to the 'totally-sweet-dont-know-how-to-hurt-girl' princely male leads? Cause if not, I can give you more recommendations. Member 12:18 am, Dec 17 2012 Posts: 212	He's not as goofy, but Hakuou in Shitsuji-sama no Okiniiri has a really sweet prince-like personality. I know it says he's a "butler," but if I remember correctly he's actually rich and chooses this on his own, and it reminds me of how Tamaki was a "host."

Its not even a shoujo but a shounen (I think it should be a seinen though) ________________ Is this me in a nutshell? Pretty much.

Even though it can be classified as shounen, it still has a unique romance in it, and some of the description of what Illegal Goddess is asking is in there. PS I wouldn't suggest something I haven't read yet.

Member 7:36 pm, Dec 20 2012 Posts: 261	Thanks for the recs! To clear up the definitions thing, I just meant a specific type of character that I don't see all that often in manga. Tamaki in Ouran was an eye-opener, like wow, there can be shoujo manga in which the guy is neither a brooding jerk nor a childhood friend. xD Read and loved Vampire Juu Jikai, btw, I wouldn't really call Strauss sweet, but he kinda fits.
