Hi All,

Got a new potentially interesting request =D. Anyone know any mangas where the protagonist (preferably female) is locked up or confined by their family or caretaker for some deep dark unknown reason? For example, they have ESP or are telepathic, so the family perceives them as a threat and locks them away? Or something along those lines. I'll take what I can get. I tried searching this topic, and I get a lot of prison mangas, that's not what I'm looking for though =(

Any help would be awesome!
Thanks!

I don't know if this fits but perhaps Kimi no Knife..
It's only a small part in the story btw..

Have you ever read Gosick? It is about a girl who is 'locked up' at the top of the library and, well...read on. Mystery...

I second Gosick and it could be debatable but I say Zetsuen no Tempest too (the family clan confine Hakaze on a desert island).

Thank you everyone for your suggestions - I really like Gosick, I think it fits pretty well. Togari isn't really what I was looking for, but it seems pretty interesting so I guess I'll read it. Is there anything about being locked up in a lab or hospital? For example, family believed the protagonist is crazy, so they force them into a mental institution, or a person is quarantined? That would fit too I think...

Sorry for being difficult!
And thank you once again,
-S

Kure-nai starts out that way, sort of. Well more like she just escaped from being locked up.

^The closest I can think of is Shin Sekai Yori, even if doesn't happen early and for so much, but since your request is pretty specific I thought to bring it up anyway (all characters are also kind of ESP, so it seems a thing that you could like). I'm obviously speaking about the anime, because I heard the manga is ecchi and stuff, so I never bothered to pick up. If you pick up the anime be prepared because the first episodes totally don't make any sense until later on. It's really a series that you want to drop after a couple of episodes and it starts to become VERY good later, so I can't say enough, if you want to start it, keep that in mind. smile

Tomie maybe? I think I recall one scene/story where she's kept inside some sort of container in the basement(?) of a hospital for observation.

Hunter x Hunter fits it quite well. Though, it is not one of the protagonists, and you find out about this character much later in the story.

I remember disliking it, but Clover (Clamp) is something like that.
Some of the stories from Hallucination from the Womb might fit. It's been a long time since I read it though...

Keishichou Tokuhanka 007 I think the heroine was raised in a facility due to her ESP abilities, don't exactly remember if she was confined (it's only briefly mentioned so it might be a stretch)
