There's something I've noticed that seems a bit... odd to me. Is it just me, or, even though there are far more shonen manga series out there, there seem to be more shoujo manga fans? I don't doubt that it's because there are probably more shonen fans in Japan than there are shoujo fans, and the Japanese publishers don't really care about what people outside of Japan think. I don't know, the thought just hit me and I felt compelled to post something about it.

According to manga-updates genre listing, there are 6144 shounen titles and 14202 shoujo titles. So...I don't know what you're trying to say. I think there are way more shoujo series, but they tend to be shorter, while shounen series are fewer but the big ones tend to be ridiculously long.

Hmmm, maybe it just seems there are more shonen titles. I do know there are at least twice as many shonen manga magazines published than there are shoujo mags, though, which is more what my estimation was based on.
