My friend wants manga with cute animals in them. I have since exhausted my resources looking for such manga so have decided to ask here for help.
To clarify, the animal has to appear often enough in the series to count as at least a side character. (Ex: Kon in Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha., President Aria/Hime in Aqua/Aria, and those of that ilk.)
Preferably, not tragedy. Otherwise, anything else goes. (Well, other than hentai, of course, but I think that would be obvious. Slight shounen-ai/shoujo-ai is fine, but I doubt any yaoi/yuri has much focus on cute animals.) Edit: Forgot to mention, she also prefers action/adventure series, but other genres are fine as long as the animals in question are adorable. Oh, and also, she cannot stand gore. So no really bloody/gory manga either, please.
Also, if all else fails, feel free to recommend manga with cute/squishable children too, like the kids in Barakamon or Aladdin from Magi.
And, as this is for my friend, no need to check my lists or whatever. Just recommend away~ Please and thank you.

Nichijou Sakamoto! There is also the cutest child, Hakase.
Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun in the anime there is always this chicken, but I never read the manga so I don't really know.
Hayate no Gotoku! Nagi is living with a tiger, I'll leave to you decide if it's cute.
Milk Crown he has a shark pet, lol.
Sankarea has a zombie cat, I find it cute but maybe someone else would find it repulsive.

Second Petshop of Horrors, though I'm not whether it can be counted as "cute".
There's also King of Bandit Jing but that crow is far from what I consider cute. I watched the anime some time ago but dunno the manga.
Hakkenden also has animals, probably the one that fits the most.
And the other one that pops up in my mind is Wagaya no Oinarisama, but honestly... though she's a fox, she's not a pet.
But ehh~ other than that, I can't think of anything else off the top of my head. I know there's a few more, mainly youkai and stuff or other fantasy animals, but just can't remember. There's one or two with normal animals too~ but what was the title again?
Maybe try the anime tag?

My Young Cat and My Old Dog, Ano Ko to Boku no Ie, Papi Nyang, Nekomichi, Wild Cats and Unico.
Hm, Shippo no Kimochi for shounen-ai and Sentimental Garden Lover for yaoi+transformation (since your friend wants animals, I won't recommend other titles, but if you want more, just ask me to).
Why doesn't she give a change to Centaur no Nayami? It's not exactly animals, but really cute magic creatures...
Bambi no Tegami, maybe.
For cute kids, definitely Gakuen Babysitters, flat (AOGIRI Natsu), My Girl and Love So Life.

Appear quite frequently/major part of the story:
Kemono no souja-griffon type thing. Very cute, hasnt been scanned much so Id advise watching the anime if you crave more. Its very important to the story but takes a while to get to it...
Beyond the beyond-bunny and cute characters

Tsubasa reservoir chronicles-Round cute thing that talks...Mokona

The harem aspect is the focus but other then that Nagasarete Airantou is full of cute animals.

Thank you, everyone, for all the suggestions!
I forgot to mention at the beginning that she prefers action/adventure series, but I don't think she would mind shoujo romances either as long as she can ogle the animals, haha. She also already read +Anima, Fairy Tail, and One Piece (and, yes, she does indeed love everyone in +Anima, Happy in Fairy Tail, and Chopper in One Piece).
I'll link her to this thread and see what she thinks. :>
