Quote from VOoDOoCold
@TaoPaiPai & @soraking I agree with you both to an extend.

I do think that i'm just growin old and don't feel that the same stories and plots are enjoyable anymore.
But as i said, you don't go to a comic store to buy a copy of another manga with almost identical stories and style now do we?

It depends VOoDOoCold, I have been reading manga for over 2 decades, the artwork and genre seem to point a small direction towards younger youth but some of the best manga is the older stuff anyways.

Maybe you like the nitty-gritty manga and and are trying to compare the styles/story/artwork.

Your Vote doesn't leave to many options to choose from.

I think manga are better in terms of being childish or not. Anime are far worse because they target a slightly different audience from manga's. Having nudity, fanservice and whatnot does not make something "mature". Most of the time such shows have storylines and characterization on the same level of children's stories (but always with a highschool setting of course). And sometimes they are not even as well-written as children's story since fanservice is what sells them. Honestly I am quite sick of those. That's why I don't watch most anime. But manga has a lot more varieties so from time to time I can still find some good and real mature works.

I've noticed people are not finding them self in the opinion bar. My fault for making it so one sided,
Sorry about that.

Upon finding new manga isn't so easy when i've read alot of manga on my spare time. I often sit about 1-2 hours just on the Genre/search to find manga that isn't childish looking or have a bad story line.
I know that our stories today are remakes from old wandering stories and books from centuries ago, so i know it's kinda hard to write something out of the box.

@coffee_11 I agree with you on the Anime part, anime today isn't something i'd even show my son if i had one. It's to retarded and they want panty shots 24/7. will it get better absolutley, but how long will it take?

to flesh out what i think childish mean, is the art and the story, both needs to go hand in hand, to make it more "mature" for the audiance to read, i know there are manga's with childish faces for adults, but can we enjoy those creations as a realistic drawn manga/anime with same story?

P.S Op is trying his hardest to find good reading material and i don't read manga's with styles like these Ef - A Fairy Tale of the Two Or Ninomae Shii no Tsukaikata & i don't read any shoujo(josei) manga.

Shounen and Romance demographics are becoming more and more shitty and overly dramatic these days. But we have seen many good things in the seinen demographic, and comedy genre also gives us some good mangas like Onepunch-man or say some indie efforts like Onani Master Kurosawa or Molester Man.

I kinda get what you're saying, but you seem a bit too concerned about art-style. I mean, Madoka (anime) is not what I'd call childish but the art style is uber-moe and girlish. In Madoka's case, when you consider the actual storyline, it seems like the art used is just another element of the subversion of the mahou shoujo genre.
Of course, we're talking about manga here, not anime. But if you tried a few manga without judging it by it's cover, as that seems to literally be what you're doing, you may find some that would make you change your view. E.g. Two great shoujo manga: Taiyou no Ie deals with family really well and is a great manga, but the art is made to be really freaking cute. Cat Street is another excellent manga about a shut-in re-entering society. I don't read much shoujo, as a lot does seem to be typical and unoriginal and boring, but there are at least 5 that I'd recommend to most people.
Though this is a webtoon, Melo-Holic starts off as what seems like a happy rom-com with a touch of supernatural but turns into a psychological thriller bigrazz

I don't think the amount of seinen manga out there has changed in the last few years, it's just that when you got into it there was this large backlog that you hadn't read. now you've read them all and you're left wondering why they don't make as much as they used to.

I'm in my late 20's now, and have been watching anime since I was about 13-14, and reading manga since I was 17-18, so for me it's just a matter of opinion.
I still enjoy shonen, I love Bleach, I read Naruto (Haven't read since chapter 540 or so, but will read it all once it ends). I enjoy some shojo, mostly the ones that do not have stupid-beyond-reason main characters. Never really looked into seinen/josei, but that's just my tastes.
I have noticed that my tastes have changed though. Before I was a big CLAMP fan, now I realize that they are not the be all and end all, and I have not really enjoyed their later series, but that is my opinion, I know that a lot of people still love their works unconditionally, it's just I that I out-grew some of their stuff.
Most of my manga collection consists of shojo, surprisigly enough, so I don't think that manga is getting younger per se, it's just that maybe the ,most popular genres are the ones that are aimed at a younger demographic. Doesn't mean that some of the older demographics can't enjoy them, though.

I think the maturity level is basically the same. There are some manga as mature as Berserk was, there are some as childish as Pokemon was.

But then, honestly, I don't think that maturity in the sense of being more adult and gritty means more quality. I think that some "lighter" manga/anime are way better than others that are more mature.

Another issue is the constant battle with deadlines. Coming up with a mature story and cranking out a chapter every week or so is challenging. You have to do research, you have to maintain a certain level in your art, you have to come up with ideas that won't conflict with past and future information, etc.

This. Mangakas just don't have enough time\will\etc. to come up with decent story AND art (and requirements for art quality grows each year) at the same time. So a lot of authors stick with light novel leaving art to another ppl. And now we have situation in which lagre part of anime looks like an advertisement (focusing mainly on art) for a light novel and manga is released long after light novel become popular.
