The February issue of Shogakukan's Monthly Sunday GX magazine announced on Saturday that Hajime Yamamura is ending his Kamisama Dolls fantasy battle manga in the next issue on February 19. The manga will have a color opening page and will adorn the magazine's cover in the next issue to celebrate its ending.

The story centers around Kyōhei, a college student who grew up in a village with robot-like figures known as kakashi. Kyōhei abandoned his hometown when he moved to Tokyo and immersed himself in college life. However, he learns from his younger sister Utao that a fugitive from his hometown has also arrived in Tokyo (with his kakashi in tow) and is responsible for a horrific crime that Kyōhei had just witnessed. Kyōhei finds himself unable to escape his past.

Yamamura began the series in December 2006, and Shogakukan has published 11 volumes thus far. The manga inspired a 13-episode anime series that aired from July to December 2011 with castmembers Nobuhiko Okamoto (Kyōhei) and Misato Fukuen (Utao). Crunchyroll streamed Kamisama Dolls in various countries as it aired in Japan.
