This year's ninth issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is announcing on Monday that Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro's gourmet battle manga Toriko is getting a new film. In the original manga, the title character Toriko is a "Bishokuya" (gourmet food provider) who travels the world to hunt down the animals and plants needed for the finest cuisine dishes.
The manga already inspired Toriko 3D: Kaimaku Gourmet Adventure!!, a 3D animated film short that opened with the One Piece 3D: Mugiwara Chase film in 2011. Viz Media will publish the 14th manga volume in North America next month. Funimation is streaming the ongoing television anime series, and its second DVD set will go on sale next month.
The new anime film will open this summer.
