Poll : Have you ever tried to recreate a dish or foodstuffs featured in Manga?

- Yes, never again. I'm not a 'chef' type.
- Yes, I was pleased with the results.
- Nope. I have come across any dishes by name while reading.
- No, my manga tends to feature 'knuckle' sandwiches... bad for your teeth.
- No, I'd rather eat the paper it was printed on, this way I know it's good, even if it still tastes like paper wink

josei
seinen

if it's been awhile y'all should do it again. i'll try to come up with some more polls but this is all i can think of right now.

What effects do you think will the now passed tokyo-manga-ban-law have?
- None.
- Minor.
- More censorship and cancelled publications.
- Japan ('s economy) is doomed.
- We're DOOOOMED!
- This is WAR!
- I don't care.
- W-wait! What law?!

- Japan ('s economy) is doomed.

But I expect the manga will just move off-shore. But it will lose quality and fans and energy through this fuss. Typical politicians. Japan just needed something to further dampen their economy right now... Our politicians just banned plastic shopping bags for causing litter. I use them for EVERYTHING and now I'll have to pay in the grocery store for paper bags. Stupid rich elite polits... (And I never litter either, in fact I pick up litter and used to recycle!) Thank god for manga that let's me forget my troubles... smile

P.S. Yes I do try to cook from manga. But my miso soup is questionable. Rice balls made from Calrose rice are yummy, especially with a lot of wasabi and ginger and salmon inside and wrapped in nori and sprinkled with furikake. Round ones are wrong. They MUST be triangular, so you get the filling. My tempura and my spring rolls are awesome, and tofu fascinates me. I will never make sushi or shabu-shabu or raw egg on rice, because our industrial food standards are not so high in the U.S and I need to live a few years longer, so I can read some manga updates. wink

Anime voice preference - Subbed or Dubbed?

Subbed: Sounds better!
Dubbed: So I don't have to stare at the captions
Both: doesn't make a difference to me
Neither: I don't watch anime

Quote from RedBird
If you don't like the first chapter/episoed in an anime/manga, what do you do?

* I drop it!
* I try another ch/ep, maybe it gets better
* Once I have started I read/watch it till the end

Feelings on online manga reader sites:
-Hate them! They're destroying the manga community
-Don't care, but use them from time to time
-Love them! Easy way to read without downloading and looking for them

I love online manga sites. I spend all my nights with them, prowling around in the wee hours. I bow down and worship before them. That's even an understatement. I choose manga by genre, but also by the indefinable "je ne sais quoi". I'm a sucker for haunted houses, for instance. Subs rule, for me, because you get the original feeling and might possibly learn the occasional new word. I don't like any manga genre least, because they all have something great if you search long enough, but I do have a favorite genre. wink Here is my poll suggestion.

How many times will you re-read a manga you really like?

1. I read each chapter once, and when a new chapter comes out, I read that.

2. I read each manga I like from beginning to end every time a new chapter comes out.

3. If I like a manga I will re-read it a couple times.

4. If I like a manga, I may re-read it dozens of times.

5. If I like a manga, I may re-read it hundreds of times.

6. I have been obsessed with this one manga for years now. It's my life.

It's not much of poll. Needs work. A bit verbose. I need an editor in my life. The best I could do. *sob*... wink

P.S. Okay, this post post comes like two down below me but I think it's the most brilliant ever. "Do You Get Depressed After Finishing A Manga?" I always try to read the end first, but because of the updating format of the thing, it's not always possible. Yes! Don't kill off my favorite character. A happy ending is a must. Or at least an ending I can rationalize.

I recently read an article somewhere on a blog about how more females are reading shonen titles rather than their intended shoujo works for them. Hence, this suggestion is inspired from the article. The question can be something along the lines of:
Do you read manga titles that aren't directed to your demographic?
1. Yes, I read a lot of shonen/seinen and I'm female.
2. Yes, I read a lot of shoujo/josei and I'm a male
3. No, I'm sticking to manga directed towards me
4. I read all sorts of genres/no preference.
