Don't know if this has been suggested, can not be bothered reading 104 pages of comments...but here's mine

If you are reading a manga that is completed in Japan, but is incomplete in your native language, do you...?
Search for Spoilers
Read it until the most recent chapter/volume
Wait until it is completed
Don't care/indifferent

I really think a 'best weapon' poll would be fun, new and interesting but I'm not competent to make it. Please tell me what you think a good weapon poll would look like. Maybe we can form a poll by committee. I think the best weapon ever was ummm...Natsume's Lucky Cat, (it could turn into a monster flying wolf thingy). What do you think? If ten people answer this question it could agglomerate into a poll. Anyway, I want a weapon poll. (Or I would choose a Mobile Suit Gundam, if I couldn't have the demon cat...

*Laughing about the answer two below this. Sure. Love is big enough for a group, I say. You missed that choice when you made the poll... ;P

(haha... I just read a manga where the hero's weapon was a little palm frond fan and he only used it for toying with and cooling for the entire first volume. I was shocked and amazed when he whipped it out to defeat his enemies at the end. Mangakas are so cool... Thinking about weapons...)

Quote from Higanbana
Your best friend likes the same person as you. In a love triangle you

end your friendship and undermine them
end your friendship and fight fairly
keep your friendship and undermine them
keep your friendship and fight fairly
ignore your feelings and support your friend
convince your friend to ignore ...

This

A lot of series get updated here, and then you check out the scanlator, only to find out that the release is closed to people who are members of the site. Sometimes you have to post X number of times in their forum in order to access download links. I used to never join, but now I'll occasionally join if it's super-easy (only need to join with livejournal, register with twitter, etc.). So I want to know what other people do when they are faced with this:

There's a series you really want to read, but the scanlator's policy is that releases can only be read/downloaded by members, and cannot be shared publicly or uploaded to public reader sites. Do you:

Join the group, absolutely!
Join only if the membership process is easy
Join only if there are other series of theirs you are also interested in
Hope that someone disobeys the policy and uploads it somewhere public
Resign yourself to never reading it
You never visit scanlator sites, so you'd never know if they had this policy or not

Poll about Circle entry:

Should Circles:
1. Follow present site protocol (adding the circle name as an alternative name to the mangaka).
2. Have a seperate editable entry (e.g. Circle(s) [Edit]).
3. Be added as a mangaka with "(Circle)" appended and the circle members linked in the comments section.
4. Use the publisher field to add circles (with "(Circle)" appended to show that it is a circle and not a publisher) with the circle members linked in the comments section.
5. Be entered some other way (use the forums for your ideas).
6. Have no opinion.

Quote from nowyat
Do you get angry when people on a message board or chat criticize or make fun of a manga or anime that you love?

1. Yes! I tell them off!
2. I get angry but don't say anything back.
3. I get mad and leave.
4. I try to reason with them and explain why I love it.
5. I don't care what they say about my favorite things. The trolls.
6. I think people should only make positive comments about stuff they like, not be so negative about things no one forced them to read/watch.
7. I like to hear others' opinions, even when they hurt.
8. I am probably that person making the critical comments.

This, but much edited

I thought of bringing up a poll of which continent manga scanlation readers are from:
North America
South America
Asia
Europe
Australia
Africa
Antartica (?)

this is sort of in response to Digital Manga Guild's attempt at trying to gather scanlators there,
http://www.digitalmangaguild.com/
but I was pretty disturbed by the introductory video where the English manga-reading community was just loosely referred to as Americans (I'm guessing they mean north). A lot of the legal drama over scanlations is also based in the US, I think. It would be cool to see the actual demographics and prove a point.

What would your ideal weapon be if you were the hero of a manga? (Obviously the note book has been used, but you see where I am going with this?)

1. A cellphone.
2. A European sportcar from the 1960's.
3. A replica samurai sword from E-bay.
4. A pair of tennis shoes.
5. A valuable Ming Vase. (Rather challenging to have adventures while clutching a Ming Vase. This must be changed.)
6. A photograph of a cat.
7. An antique razor with a dark history.
8. A dinosaur bone fragment
9. A tarot card deck.
10. A pocket watch.

I hope someone sees where I am going with this and can completely revamp it into functionality. Or suggest better weapons. The ghost of a lawyer, the Necronomicon... the possibilities... A gun, even... The weapon of the modern world seems to be the internet. But Serial Experiments Lain did that a long time ago. Plus the bear suit.

(My longest break from manga in three years? Sixteen hours. Longest break from Gackt's "Mars" album? 24 hours. Oh, and I like it when my protagonist takes the train. So urban and cool.)

this one i'm quite interested in...

How expensive is it to buy manga where you live?
- Not very. Can buy as many as I want.
- Eh, average. I can buy them, but not too many
- Quite expensive. So expensive that i don't own many at all!
- I don't buy mangas.

I was thinking about putting a price range but that would be difficult due to people living in different countries and stuff.

I unfortunately am the third option, too expensive to make a habit of buying. sad

This, but I took out the condition for having to buy it

What is the most preferable in regarding Manga plot and art?

- Great plot lines can cover bad art work.
- Great art work can cover nonsense plot lines.
- Good plot lines with average art work
- Good art work with weak plot lines.
- It matters not. If it's a manga, I will read it.

This is probably my last contribution to poll suggestions. I doubt I would I come up anything else to ask... Cheers.

How about this:

Do you get annoyed by bad grammar/spelling in a scanlation?

1. Definitely, I fixate on bad grammar/spelling.

2. Yes, it's distracting but I usually correct it in my mind and move on.

3. Well, I'm okay with it as long as I can understand what's being said.

4. No, I just glance over the words and understand it instantly.
