Im looking for mangas/anime that has plain guy and popular girl romance.
school life is a must
the guy is just you average joe, nothing special
the girl is popular (ex: shes an idol, shes best looking in school, etc.)

Accel World - guy is actually not just plain but short and fat, also i'd suggest the anime since its finished unless you can get a hold of the last 9 volumes

I also think that plain guy x popular girl is fairly common in shoujo and shounen manga...
But oh well, who could hate this classic setups in the world of romance..

Nevertheless, I would still recommend to read them too, as they are awesome! Sorry, for not contributing, I only know 3D Kanojo since I don't read much shounen, only shoujo. I think that you should really go read "shounen" manga, plenty of popular girl x plain guy romances there, rare for shoujo though. As well, try using tags, like popular female lead.
