Sorry if I'm posting in a wrong section.
So I decided to start watching Japanese dorama. Mostly for entertainment, but I'd also like to accustom myself with everyday spoken Japanese, since I have an important Japanese exam coming up in a few months and I haven't done much listening so far. I know that in anime people talk in a bit weird way.
Basically, I'd like to see a Japanese dorama taking place in modern times (nothing historical or set in a different world), in which people use language which really is used by native speakers in Japan. English subtitles should be available. Any genre is fine. I haven't seen any Japanese dorama yet.
If you now a great fantasy/historical dorama, feel free to recommend it too (although it won't be my priority). If you know any Japanese movies with real spoken Japanese you can list them too, provided they are available to download from somewhere (but don't give me any links since it's forbidden).
I'll appreciate any help with this.

hmm what do you mean by language used by native speakers ...slang and diffrent dialects than the tokyo one are still japanese and would be understood[snobs might look the other way] but it might not be popular if you used it in a japanese class

at home dad comedy also about the changing times in the japanese household
akihabara@deep comedy otaku,weirdos awesome
densha otoko comedy you should know pretty much what this series is about
Gokusen comedy kind of like GTO but with a female teacher who is brought up in a yakuza household
1 liter of tears very sad story if you dont cry while watching...something is really wrong with you
summer snow sad/warm story about love
Koukou Kyoshi watch the one from 1993 very...touching story

I mean that sometimes characters use expressions that are not really used in everyday situations. I suppose that if the story was set in the past, the characters would use archaic language. Very often characters have weird speech mannerisms. I didn't really think about dialects, but I think most dorama are in Tokyo dialect since it's the official one... If not, this is the one I'm learning, so please recommend only Tokyo dialect doramas...
Thanks for your recommendations, I'll check them out

Hero Pride Change Engine Gift Good luck
The above J Drama stars Kimura takuya (my role model.. btw).. and he is too awesome.. XD
The only other J Drama which can rival Kimura's stuff... would be... "Kekkon Dekinai otoko".. starring Abe hiroshi XD
Try 'em out please :3

I don't really watch J-drama too much, but I do recommend PGSM if you're ever bored. As corny/silly as it looks, it's pretty addicting. (There's some sadness in it too.) On the plus side, it's more based on the manga than the anime.
I also recommend three J-movies: Tokyo Sonata, Saga no Gabai-baachan and Nana (------Never read the manga or watched the anime, but the movie was good).
Pretty sure most of these contain Tokyo-ben, except, not sure about Gabai-baachan. I saw most of these movies before taking any Japanese classes. Gabai-baachan may be an exception because it takes place in a rural area, despite the beginning part set in the Shinkansen. However, it's a heart-touching/amusing movie that I recommend regardless of the dialect and time period. The main male character Spoiler (mouse over to view) can't read kanji and still succeeds....somehow!! :D
PS: I also recommend you check out some of the silly Japanese game (and variety) shows on the Tube just to hear a lot of colloquial Japanese. ^__^

each link goes to a summary of the show I like each of these shows but 1 Litre of Tears and Nodame Cantabile are my absolute fave.
1 Litre of Tears - family, human, school Just amazing. Also, the title is not a joke.
14 Year Old Mother/14 Sai No Haha - family, human
Galileo - mystery, detective, science
*Some based on manga
Nodame Cantabile - comedy, romance. I can watch this a million times. It's hilarious each time. And the music <333
Hana Yori Dango - romance By far the funniest drama adaptation of the manga. *Ignore Doumoji regarding language.
Gokusen - comedy, school by the third season it's a bit redundant
Kami no Shizuku human, mystery
JIN - Sci-fi, medical, historical drama This was my first historical drama and it's so good!
