I'm looking for a power up manga/manhwa/etc. and/or anime where the character doesn't just get stronger or new attacks but instead gets new types of power/s opening up new options.
Good topic example is Mahou Sensei Negima
Bad topic example is InuYasha (I like both examples but one just doesn't fit what I'm looking for)
also no Yaoi (shounen-ai is fine only if it's light)

Havent read both mangas you mentioned (only know anime of inuyasha but been a while so I dont remember what exactly you meant with getting stronger in inuyasha).
And the line between power up and getting stronger/new attacks isnt always clear for me, but suggested anyway cause cant harm to suggest more.

Tokage no Ou - mc's only power RIGHT NOW is changing his eye color but I would say he will gain a power up cause he is attacking an op enemy atm. 10 chapters so not much to say but I'd say its obvious that he'd gain power up some time soon.

Legend of Maian - Mc got some hidden powers, cause of his blood lineage and can access them later (but takes a while). Manga is on hiatus and that for a while.

Nurarihyon no Mago - I guess this might fall under "getting stronger". Mc is partly youkai and learns to use his power, but not only getting stronger buts learns to use different type of power "modes"/attacks. Well but you can argue that everthing comes from his yokai powers and is not really power up.

Blood Lad Mc's power were sealed (but he is still really strong compared to others). Regains his power later and can use all of his former attacks and forms, Might also be just "getting stronger" though.

Shishunki na Adam - Mc awakens eye power. Only 3 chapters so not much happening besides the awakening. If you dont look like ecchi stuff then you shouldnt read this, cause alot of "ecchiness" there.

Tripeace - Mc got amnesia and regains throughout the story parts of his memory and powers. Power up/memory coming back happen only twice in story. But once he remembers it he is one of the strongest. But takes a while to get there (20 chapter or so). You could argue and label this as "getting stronger" though and not power up. Oh and the mc crossdresses as a disguise and comedy aspect in the story, so if you dont like gender bender stuff in general you shouldnt read this.

ok so I'll try to explain without spoilers
Mahou Sensei Negima has power ups where the power up has a different nature and use than the original power and the power up itself is interesting.
InuYasha's power ups are merely improvements (e.g. the ability to cut things it couldn't before or new attacks)
in other words manga that lean towards learning or obtaining new abilities

correct me if i'm wrong. in msn the power up is still magic but dark magic (different from the original path)... is it like that? if so then... (although you probably already read all of these..)
Black Cat might fit.. he still use the gun but later on he got a rail gun...

Mx0 from surviving with wits to having a magix zero card.

sort of while it is still magic it's not a simple spell like other magic it has it's own nature and rules
and as for your recommends Hunter x Hunter and Mx0 fit but I'm not sure about Black Cat as I've only seen the anime and it didn't fit

The only one I can think of is Gash Bell!. There are multiple characters with abilities, though each one's abilities generally revolve around a certain theme. As they power up they almost always get new kinds of powers, though there are a few instances where they just power up a previous skill or ability.

Code breaker springs to mind.......

Kekkaishi both of the main characters learn to use new types of kekkai
Psyren mc shapes his ability in different forms during the manga

The Black Cat anime is actually pretty different to the manga, for example: in the beginning of the anime Train's still evil; but in the manga he's been Sven's partner for two years or so.
