This week's poll about the past is from our member icassop. How has your manga reading changed in the last 5 years? Read a lot more? Read less? Started reading in the last 5 years? Maybe you don't read anymore...

As for me, I'm currently reading a lot less than I did 5 years ago. Heck, 5 years ago I was still scanlating as a proofreader. Those were the days...

You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related)
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: You prefer
Choices:
Manga - votes: 10751 (73.7%)
Manhwa - votes: 704 (4.8%)
Manhua - votes: 60 (0.4%)
OEL - votes: 12 (0.1%)
Webcomics - votes: 449 (3.1%)
Western comics - votes: 103 (0.7%)
No preference - votes: 2502 (17.2%)
There were 14581 total votes.
The poll ended: June 7th 2013

Wow, webcomics beat manhua? But not manhwa. Then again, most of the scanlated webcomics are Korean, so I guess you could consider them manhwa.

I read a lot less these days.
Nowadays i only keep reading some fav series that i've been following from years ago or reading oneshots, short volumes series (less time to read).
There was time i got so bored with reading manga, since i have read many and consumed all the good ones. Part of growing up is becoming more picky with your reading and less new manga that can prick your interest -.-

Started reading manga like two years ago, but compared to the past, the number of new mangas I am picking are far too less.

I read a lot more now

I started to read manga 7 years ago, and around five years ago my manga supply is limited to what my sister/ friend rent from nearby book rental, or when my cousin buy nakayoshi (shoujo mags).

It wasn't until 2 or 3 years ago when my house purchased internet connection, and boom! My reading list increased significantly- especially this year, after my sisters got their own laptop and my computer using time increased.

Started reading manga 20 years ago, begun with Lone Wolf and Cub. Needless to say, most manga today are either repetitions of things I have already read or just inferior to past stories. I find perhaps one or two a year the catch my attention.

I read a lot less than what I used to. Maybe it's because I've kind of caught up with most things I want to read, so it's just a case of waiting for releases.
I usually have a binge moment where I read a lot of manga in a few sittings, but even they've kinda died down a bit.

Started reading in 04, really got obsessed over the course of 05-07; then got bored with most of the mainstream ones so I started exploring more mature manga and that kept me busy until like 2011. Now I hardly read anything, aside from re-discovering some classics and an odd new one every now and then.

I read a lot less since now i have read pretty much all the good manga and almost all new manga that are released are pretty much the same as all old manga.
A lot of times in the last 2-3 years i have read a manga that i was sure i had read before, but it was just because i had already read another manga that was almost the same in every way.

I wondered the same at first, but then i though they also post Light novel, Manwha, Manhua, Webtoon etc. here, so peoples have other reason then just manga to come here.

I used to read, and buy, TONS of manga. Since I read most volumes in 15-20 minutes I very quickly bypassed what Borders had in stock for the series I would read, and then found various sites that had the manga online. After that, my reading load went up exponentially with me reading almost 50-60 series at one time.
As most of those series got dropped or finished, I had a very hard time replacing them as I had read most of what I could find. Compounded with Borders closing down, and online readers being the big new thing, thus more series were dropped because of those online readers.. it just formed a circle that lost my interest.

I now read about 6 series that I can't find in the U.S. I have about $8k of manga sitting behind me on bookshelves that I re-read every once in a while, but I am really mostly waiting for the few I read to finish. So in the last 5 years? I have all but stopped reading manga completely. Give it a year, and I will be completely done.

And as for people confused about why people who don't read come here? There are forums and stuff, and not everything has to do with manga. We can still appreciate the stuff we read, and many people still look for something that just might be "new."

Lots of sad posts about people getting sick of manga so far. sad

As for me, I am a lot more involved with manga information, covers, etc. than I used to be, but I think as far as actual reading goes, I've decreased a bit.
