I really like the characters in manga who are sort of goofy and passionate about stupid things. Is there a manga (preferably a shoujo/josei) where the male lead has that sort of personality? Sort of like the opposite of the calm, cold, and collected type haha. A person who is very blunt and kind of dumb in an endearing sort of way smile

Well, aside from being seinen, Baka & Gogh fits your request perfectly (it even gives you multiple idiots to choose from).

As for shoujo/josei series, I don't know of any perfect fits, but you could try Yakusoku Siren and Udon no Hito... Although, in Yakusoku Siren, the doofus turns out to be

acting the fool for reasons of his own...

So a "genki"ish character? If yes, I have a thread about it. Here are some that *may* fit your request:
-My Hero! -definitely!
-Monkey High! -similar male lead as the first recc

Hybrid Berry he's kinda an idiot, madly in love with baseball and not much else haha.

Tenshi 1/2 Houteishiki has a guy who is obsessed with, um, chapstick and makeup? And is a perfect match for the heroine with permanently dry lips. He's goofy for sure.

Don't Cry, Girl is the weirdest one. It's a completely innocent story about a man passionate for being a nudist.

Those are the best for being goofy/passionate... if you just want cute and innocent male leads, Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun and Beast Master are always options. biggrin

The male lead from Mangaka-san to Assistant-san to has a very passionate stance on panties -- very entertaining

Kimi wa Pet - "Momo" definitely fits the bill for doofus male lead, whose sunny personality brings much needed relief to the female protagonist (a successful career woman)'s stressful life.

Saint Oniisan - I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for, it's not a romance series. It's a gag manga about Jesus and Buddha taking a vacation on Earth. It's very light-hearted and extremely funny, the two characters definitely have lovable, doofus personalities.

If you're also looking for female leads with such personalities, definitely check out Aria. The female protagonist is definitely a lovable doofus, she has a really beautiful friendship with her friends, and I guess the male that appears from time to time is sort of goofy as well?

The male lead in Issho ni Neyou yo by TAKAO Shigeru is very bubbly and childlike for most of the time although he has a dark past and still bears a heavy burden. I've never seen a male character more odd - in an innocent and likable way - than him. In fact, the whole cast is charmingly quirky. Give it a try.

Seconding Don't Cry, Girl. The contrast between the nudist male lead's goofiness and the heroine's stark realism is way too hilarious to be missed.

Otomen is a shoujo with a male lead. The guy *pretends* to be a cool guy, which is a cover for his real personality, which loves girly things. He fangirls over anything cute.

The guy in My Little Monster is kind of nutty and expressive, and isn't at all a cool type, or at least he never tries to be. He doesn't care about appearances. (Also a shoujo title)
