I recently finished reading Holyland

I have previously read:

The Breaker/The Breaker New Waves
Gamaran
Hajime No Ippo
Karate Shoukoushi Kohinata Minoru
Tough/Koukou Tekkenden Tough
Vagabond
Veritas
Vinland Saga

And now I need something new to read. Im not a big fan of girls as the lead character, but if there is a cool series I would not oppose reading something out of my own comfort zone.

Sorry for listing some of them as martial arts manga/manwha.
What i meant to say was that im looking for swords and/or fighting.

PS: Thank You biggrin

I don't read Martial Arts manga much, but I do enjoy Endo Hiroki's All-Rounder Meguru. It focuses on Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and only on the sport - no pointless drama, no exaggerated fights, no annoying characters. Besides, it seems really accurate to a layman like me.

You could also give Hajime no Ippo by MORIKAWA Jyoji or Kenji by MATSUDA Ryuchi/ FUJIWARA Yoshihide a shot. The former is about boxing, the latter about Kung Fu. They're both from the 80s so don't expect a too naturalistic art style but that aside they are worth a look. The comedic first impression fades after a while.

For something less focused on Martial Arts as a sport, try Until Death Do Us Part by TAKASHIGE Hiroshi/ SONG Ji-Hyoung. The male lead is a blind swordsman who has to fend off several secret/ evil organisations in order to protect a young girl with precognition skills. The plot can become fairly difficult to follow once you're out, so you better read it in one go.

To be savoured:
- Blood Alone by TAKANO Masayuki
- Otoyomegatari by MORI Kaoru
- Gangsta. by Kohske
- Seishun Kouryakuhon by AKIZUKI Sorata

Vinland saga isn't really martial arts though? If you want one similar to vinland saga try Kingdom.

Want one similar to the breaker (character wise, not the super powered strength) try Holyland.

Ares is also very good, has fighting focus like gamaran mixed with vinland saga's history, themes and wars but a bit more shounen.
