Information
The importance of blood type in Japanese culture

It is a good idea to know your blood type. While most Japanese know their blood type, many foreigners do not (and Japanese are frequently surprised to hear this).

Many Japanese people believe that each blood type has a certain personality and affinity, so it is common for them to ask someone their blood type or try to guess someone’s blood type by their personality. Furthermore, it is not uncommon for women in their 20s and 30s to even select a prospective husband based on his blood type.

There are many books about the various blood type personalities. For example, “A, B, O, AB gata jibun no setsumeisho” (A Guide to A, B, O, AB blood types), written by an unknown author who uses the pen name Jamais Jamais, have become best sellers in Japan.

I'm a type o in anime and in real life , I'm realistic to a fault but i love romance and money , I smile at the thought of money , I'm ambitious and I love taking care of kids and animals and adopt as many pets asi can and play babysitting games, I'm open minded and I do monopolize a lot but I noticed o is the worst anime blood type as the worst/most hated anime characters get o and the best A

My boyfriend says hes AB in real life & def sounds it!

I'm type O in real life, but I feel like I'm more an A type!

Truth is, I'm lazy! So alot of these don't ring true with me.
And I'm super quiet & prefer to be on the side lines, thats
IF I'm even in the mix to begin with! Truthfully I'm a pretty
honest person & I'm always trusting that is, until u give me
a reason not to be! The only thing I would say would be true with
me is that I'm REALISTIC!

One thing I love about Japanese culture is that they can make a superstition out of everything, even if it's a scientific term like a blood type.

On topic, I don't know my blood type and I'm happy (I think it's AB but not too sure).

I'm A in real life. It more or less fits, apart from the "Hard workers". roll eyes
Though I can stay calm when I'm in danger (car crashes, burning buildings -not that I've really been in any dangerous situation-), it's seemingly normal situations when I get very nervous. You should see my sudden nerve attacks... I could hardly breathe and even fainted when I went to the dentist.
"Big on cleanliness"; I'm like Sheldon but more social (?)

None of these characteristics fit me. I have no idea what my blood type is, but it's either A or B.

I am a combination of A and B, but strangely I have the least in common with AB.

But, it seems to me that some of the characteristics listed in the blood types seem to go against each other. Ex: in blood type B it says that the person is "pragmatic" and "optimistic". I think of an optimist as someone who always thinks good things will eventually happen, while a pragmatist has a more realistic view that things don't always have a happy ending. This is the same as saying someone is realistic and optimistic, which are usually thought of as opposites.

There are a lot of characteristics listed that I wouldn't have thought go together.

Anyways, in real life, I have no clue what my blood type is.

But do the characteristics ever go more in depth? Like, do they differentiate between how an A- person behaves and how an A+ person does?

I used to believe that I was really an O but seeing myself now, it's sort of an A. embarrassed

I'd definitely be AB. (IRL blood type A+)

It would be kind of funny if these personality types were true IRL because of how each type is distributed differently across the world. In Japan, each type is fairly common but each ethnicity has unique distributions of blood types. For instance, in some parts of the world like the Americas, B and AB are super rare. In Japan, Rh negatives are so rare (less than 1%), they aren't even factored into the system.

There are even ethnicities (albiet smaller and isolated ones) that have almost exclusively one blood type. That would be really interesting to go there and everyone has the same personality type.
