Hi, I'm looking for a manga where the main girl obsesses over the 'popular' guy but soon realizes that he's not that great. Or female goes from an unhealthy relationship to a healthy one.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Something like Oboreru Knife. The main girl saw the guy as a' God' but now she thinks he's not so great. I also think it's heading in the direction where she chooses a better guy.

No ecchi or harem.

Thanks!!

0x0 Memories maybe, well she doesn't obsess over the guy or anything but she thought he was pretty cool at the beginning

First idea, I had to think of was the 1st volume of Kanpeki Kareshi Kanojo. It's pretty funny and the storyline actually deals exactly with the topic of romantic expactations, that become crushed and then advance into something more realistic. Kkk. So, it might be to your liking.

If you don't mind Manhwa, then Hannune Banhada! Season 1 and it's sequel could be worth a look, too. Although the drawing style is probably not everyones cup of tea and the main character is somewhat hard to take by times, the storyline and dry reactions of the male counterpart made me laugh a few times. It's also dealing with the obsessive phase after falling in love and the awakening to reality then after.

Second Manhwa recommendation would be You're So Cool, which is exactly showing your longed for scenario. The female lead is naive and falling for the most popular guy, but then comes to realize, that most people actually don't know a thing about his jerk-like personality and the reason behind all this. The developments are a bit predictable, but ... Well, it's a Shoujo.

There are tons more^out there, but maybe these aren't the ones being recommended often. ^^

I may be mistaken, but I think you misinterpreted his post. He wants a manga where the girl becomes disillusioned and put-off by popular guys and chooses to pursue a healthier relationship, not a manga where the girl discovers that the popular guy is a jerk or not as he seems, but ends up with him anyway.

Anyway, I'm interested in this as well, so unfortunately I don't have much to add. I tend to avoid most shoujo because it tends to into the ordinary girl x playboy tropes, so something that subverts them would be refreshing.

Edit: Now that I think about it, I just finished My Hero! and it's kind of what you're looking for but not really, since the girl doesn't obsess over him and is never really in love with him. He's just kind of there for contrast and to act as a foil for the ordinary guy she eventually does fall for. I thought I'd mention it anyway, though.

Well, I agree that one can surely argue about You're So Cool and for me it was rather something to read for the fun, but on the other hand - Their relationship somewhats turns more healthy, when they finally start talking and kind of getting to know each other better (and the girl is not solely in it for his "appearance"). That's why, I recommended this as an example for the rather predictable side of the requested setting, where the girls first just hunt the looks and then realize the realistic side of a relationship, where you mainly have to put up with the personality of the other one. Same goes of course for the male characters, which at first often just kill time or somewhat use the female counterpart, and then see the unhealthy aspect of their behaviour. Although, there are probably more fitting ones to point that out. ^^

Reminds me - Another example might be Cheese in the Trap, where the obsession over the popular guy may not have a romantic nature, but is rather clear in the point of the female main character analizing at first all (of his) actions more or less without ingenuousness. And later on, starts to question her behaviour just like his reasons, when they start to get closer and more attached to each other. (Unhealthy -> healthy. Kkk.)

I can see how you interpreted that the way you did, but I get the feeling what the OP meant by that was the girl leaving an unhealthy relationship altogether to pursue a healthier one with someone else, rather than transforming an unhealthy relationship into a healthy one. Of course, I could be projecting what I'm interested in onto that quote smile

Based on the spoilered text in the OP that seems to have inspired the thread, though, it seems like he's most interested in a girl coming to her senses and looking for love elsewhere.
