Looking for an action/adventure manga and/or anime that puts other priorities before romance. Romance MUST be there but subtle/not a main plot device. Both persons must be equals or consider themselves capable of standing at the other's side. They are both willing to die for their cause. An example would be Red River without most of the romance or Takagi Saya's parents from Highschool of the Dead.
Please no Yaoi, Yuri, Extreme amounts of Ecchi, and Harems.
Also, if anybody knows any similar characters to Ageha from Basara that'd be great!

Ehm.... this is surprisingly tough. What you're asking is basically a combination of:
1. Action
2. Adventure
3. Must have romance, but not as main plot
4. Both characters have a cause worth dying for, and are willing to die for it
5. They feel like equals
Saver fits the bill I think?
Meteor Methuselah (Immortal rain) might fit a bit, but they don't have much of a cause at first (though they do later on)
Psyren somehow fits all except the adventure part, though I'm not sure it's what you're looking for.
Magician (KIM Sarae) may kind of fit, depending on which branch of the triangle you're looking at...
Kubera kind of fits the bill too, though so far it doesn't have that much action or romance (should have much more in the future though)
Ouke no monshou is along the lines of Red River, unfortunately including its emphasis on romance, so it doesn't fit 3.
You could try out Ookami to Koushinryou (Spice and Wolf) for the adventure part, though there's no action. This is actually a rare merchant adventure series.

I'd say superior fits quite nicely although it's a bit romance heavy. Gokusen has a romance subplot but mainly focuses on gangrelated business, unfortunately there's a slight difference in power, Yankumi is a teacher and her "love interest" is a student, and he'd never beat her in a fight. These are both action mangas but hardly deadly serious and sadly none of these couples have strong enough motivations to die for any cause.

I second Saver. This definitely comes to mind first thing when I read your post

What Geese said.
Actually, since you're also accepting anime recommendations, I'd say that first story arc of Sword Art Online perfectly fits your requirements.

Oh sorry what I meant was action or adventure ^^" Everything else is correct.
Also, I guess an appropriate genre for my request would be seinen? Sorry, I should have been more clear xD

Hmm I think it doesn't have to be seinen necessarily. Some josei, shounen or shoujo can also fit the description...
I just remembered Tokyo Crazy Paradise - a shoujo in futuristic setting with action, comedy, romance and 2 main characters who are both awesomely tough. Death-or-life situations are there all the time.
At first it seems like romance will be the focus, but as it progresses, other elements (action, villains, etc) become the driving force of the story. Not sure if it's the right recommendation for you, but you can always check it out and decide...

Psyren
The two get together about 3/4 through but they put the priorities first.

Oh! In that case, I'll add these to my existing recs:
- 7 Seeds, from the same author as Basara. There's romance, but they're all concentrated on surviving, really. It starts really slow, but picks up when it switches to the other teams, and eventually has some of the best character development I've ever read.
- Claymore kind of fits. The male protagonist eventually gets separated from the female protagonist and gets stronger to find her back, but this is a tiny part of the plot compared to the main fighting.
- Full Metal Alchemist maybe? I don't even remember the romance in this series (though it's been a long time since I've read it), but apparently some consider the romance in it to be really good, so...
You seem to be okay with violent stuff:
- Umineko no Naku Koro ni : believe it or not there's romance in it. Strictly speaking, it's mystery rather than action/adventure, but with the amount and style of killing going on it might as well be action. The scanlations are all over the place though...
- Mirai Nikki maybe? The female protagonist is obsessed with the male protagonist, but it doesn't really become mutual until later on. In the meantime, they're killing folks. :\
- Akame ga Kiru!.
And yeah, Tokyo Crazy Paradise fits too.
Edit: and maybe Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer. I didn't like it that much, but I know a few people for whom it's their favourite series. Sengoku Youko kind of has romance if you squint.

Thank you everyone for all the suggestions! Unfortunately, I have already read/looked into most of the recommendations. And Mizura, violence is what I was mostly looking for xD Also with more mature groups, like Mafia/Yakuza/Military/HistoricalShogunish or a setting similar to Shi ga Futari o Wakatsu Made. Like if the pair had to choose between each other or their country, they would choose their country.
Sorry everyone, I am probably asking for far too much. I will try what Narufan1st suggests and try to search for such a series. Thank you again everyone~ If you still want to give suggestions, you're more than welcomed too.

Mafia? Sun-ken Rock maybe?
Also, in Akame ga Kiru!, the main female antagonist later develops a thing for the main male protagonist without knowing who he is. But I'm pretty sure they'll still chop each other's heads off without hesitation even if she knew.
