Sword Art Online (Novel) -It does however bring up some of the more serious issues of VR in its story, so it has a more 'heavy' tone to it compared to 1/2 Prince and Legendary Moonlight Sculptor

Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei (Novel) One of my (if not close to THE) all-time favorite.

Don't know if you'll like it, but try Campione! (Novel)
In my opinion it's a graet one.

I second The Legend of Sun Knight (Novel), 1/2 Prince (Novel), and Eclipse Hunter (Novel).

Baccano! (Novel) and Durarara!! (Novel) are great as well.

There's also a novel called Ark (Novel) that is very similar to Legendary Moonlight Sculptor. The protagonist is different enough though, so it's a nice read.

I'm kinda surprised that no one else posted this up yet.

Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria (Novel) is an absolute must read. The plot is deliciously mysterious and tricky, and the characters have great development. I highly recommend it! smile

Kara no Kyoukai. Read Empty Boundaries' translation, not Baka-Tsuki's.

Read raws? Chinese ones I mean, since I honestly don't know how many of them have been translated.

I suggest Yu Wo's light novels. And you can probably find quite a few good ones on 冒險者天堂. Seba's novels are really good too, but I don't think her's are under the light novel category.
Gu Fang Bu Zi Shang has a good completed novel too, but again, probably not light novels.
In short, check out Yu Wo and authors she listed under friends. If not, try 冒險者天堂. They say that place is heaven for light novels.

As for Japanese ones that I know are translated, I've only read SAO, Mahouka Koukou no Retousei, and Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu. All pretty good, but a can't voucher for the translations since I went looking for Chinese translations halfway through... I honestly can't recommend English translations for novels. If you can read raws, read those.

I second The Twelve Kingdoms and add Guin Saga (Novel) on top of that. Sadly Guin Saga was never finished as the author died. cry Well, at least there's 130 volumes to read. wink

definitely 1/2 Prince. There's many similarity to Moonlight Sculptor and yet so unique.
I don't think you'll like it looking at the ones you've read, but I'm into No. 6 currently. It's a dark, intense one with futuristic setting.

I think there's only about half a dozen of those volumes printed in english.

Also, to the OP, look for Eugene Woodbury's translations of The Twelve Kingdoms. Tokyopop's are not good. Though I will admit their hardcover editions are really nice to look at and feel rather substantial for their size.
