Hm.. My favorite character type.. That's difficult. Honestly it depends on how well written they are.. Dx
But let's see..
Maybe shy and awkward.. Or maybe depressed and given up on life, but puts up a fake front?
Or intelligent liar, calculating, but secretly compassionate?
Really I think you can just throw a lot of different adjectives describing personality together, randomly grab 3-5 and it could be interesting..

Erm, what's the description for Munsu's character from Shin Angyo Onshi?

This one is hard since the favorite type of character of mine isn't up there. My key word, Ambition. But other than that, it's easier for me to say what my favorite type is not and depending on what type of manga it is (genre wise). Self sacrificing isn't so bad either but a mary sue ain't that great....In a shoujo manga, ambition is key but an absolute no would be something like, simply an example, a completely pathetic crybaby stupid heroine as well as a perfect prince character (such a fake). As for a shounen, I think as long as s.the main character has ambition of some sort, it wouldn't matter to me so much what type of person he is. Can't decide from the provided options. I shall decline to vote.

I find this poll a bit too hard to vote on, since all my favorite characters probably have nothing in common with one another.

Some of the choices are REALLY weird.

"The ugly character"? Wtf?

I went with "The sensitive but melancholic one" mostly because it's the type of character I can relate with the most.

I went with "The sensitive but melancholic one" cause I like my chars with a sad past, but it'll mean nothing if he's useless and doesn't have the looks. XD

It's a tie between the quiet, good-looking one and the scheming plotter because those are the ones I can see myself as and relate to the most. I really don't like those from shounen because they're usually have exaggerated personalities. Yup...

I am surprised they haven't done a poll like this yet. Much better than the crappy ones they've had lately.

Well, in manga, "genius" may not necessarily be books smart. Maybe he's a genius in, like, tennis or something.

Definitely the quiet, stoic types. It makes putting them in funny situations all the more hilarious. Extra points if the mangaka can manage to have the character express emotion while still having a poker face.

As for good looking, well, its in the eye of the beholder, as they say.

actually i enjoy a lot of these tropes. add a creative and well written dimension to them and they become instant faves. obviously these tropes cannot stand on their own.

i guess if i HAD to chose one it would be the scheming plotter, those make for interesting wrenches in plans.

the only ones i really dont enjoy are the bad attitude one (overplayed much?), genki, and the melancholic one (EMOOOO).

It was a bit hard for me to choose, cause I´ve got more than just one favorite type of character.

But in the end I chose "The quiet, stoic, and good-looking one". Cause somehow I want to be little like that. But more important, cause they are really needed in the story, they make everything funnier and interesting ^^

my favorite character isn't listed: the weak, but smart character who learns from past mistakes and becomes strong
