My native language is finnish.
I started learning english in 3rd grade (9 years old.) in school, cause it's part of finnish education system.
I learned the basics in school, but to this state i got with the help of animes and my dictionary.
I started watching animes, when i was 17 years old, and i understood most parts of the subtitles, but the parts i didn't understand, i translated those using dictionary.

My native language is Hindi. I came to America at age 5 and started to learn English. It was hard cause I have to go to an American English school, but I learned it! Now, I'm fluent! biggrin

Polish~

Started learning English when I was like 5? First lessons were still in kindergarten.

German when I was 9 (even though my father spoke German better than Polish he wouldn't speak German at home),and now, for the last 3 years - Japanese.

@KaoriNite : looks like our English isn't so bad ^^

I'm Portuguese smile

I started learning English when I was around 3 years old and now I consider myself fluent. I can also understand Spanish and sort of communicate (lack of practice). Same with French. I'm also learning German and I'd like to learn at least one language with a different writing system (not A, B, C...)
