I'd be hard-pressed to declare a cut-and-dry reason, but I immediately became obsessive over him by the third manga. ><;
I like Light, too, but he just can't stand up to L, in my mind.

lol yeah. my friend scared me 1 day by saying both so that they could be a hot yaoi pair.....then she proceeded 2 search 4 yaoi pics

She probably got the idea from the fifth manga, when they were in handcuffs. The cover was not really suggestive, but many people connect handcuffs to other things in their minds... But I do know that the pairing is relatively popular on fanfiction.net.

i just like L better, just for being the quirky genius that he is. i get stuck with the thought of wat L would do if he had the Death Note.I think he'd succeed where light failed.

i kno she thought light was hot and said l looked hot just from looking at the tips of his hair....and the 1st vol. doesnt even show his face but she put hot and looks hot together. oh and not 2 freak u out or anything but she went nuts when she saw ur avi. her quote"is that L?"

It's L. Light is literally a sociopath. L's quirks are sort of endearing and much more rational, Light just gets wrapped up in his ideals and kills people.

I like Light, because he's evil and smart.  After reading a lot of shoujo manga and rooting for the good guys, I start to like the evil characters more and more. Plus, he's really interesting since he goes from, "I'll make the world free from crime," to "I'll make a new world and be its God," in just a couple pages. I love psychological manga, and Light is the most interesting case I've seen (which doesn't say much since I don't read a lot of psychological stuff since a lot of manga series have too much detailed gore).
