I'm looking for a manga where a girl has two or more love rivals to choose from and she chooses the one you weren't expecting. Like it was a genuine surprise/or at least different from the typical norm, that she chose that guy over the other(s). For instance, a guy that's introduced after an already established relationship or something. It can really be anything though. I loved cat street and i've been looking for something similarish ever since. I'm tired of reading mangas where you know from the first page he's introduced that he's "the one."

Kind of like the manga leading you on to expect it's one guy, and then pulls a bait and switch, or something.

No stupid/dense/irritating lady leads though please. Smart is best (street smarts are good too, doesn't have to be academic), physically strong as well is a cool bonus if it's possible.

Lovey Dovey kind of works well for this too. not in that it was all that surprising, or that it defied too many stereotypes, because it didn't really do either, but i loved it that she I like seeing women moving on from "first loves" and finding growth/healing/acceptance etc. or maturing in second relationships, though first loves are acceptable if it doesn't look like they can get together/ go through some serious troubles, or something happens to separate them for a period of time etc.

I just want to read something a little atypical in terms of romance.


any genres except ecchi hentai and adult are fine. don't mind smut/mature though.

i have no preference between shoujo/josei/shounen/seinen. Though the two i mentioned were shoujo, it's just cause those were the only two i could think of off the top of my head.

Tonari no Atashi There was a little too much angst in this one (at least for me). But it was cute and it fits your request.
Nakanmon! Heroine seems like a wussy crybaby at first but she's surprisingly strong and she wants to change the crybaby part of herself.

oh, and My Hero! is really nice. She's a normal girl that falls for a normal guy. It's not much of a love triangle though. The Prince-dude is really a secondary character.
