So i'm looking for a story that portrays Taoist thoughts or something similar. For example, I was reading Choukakou and there were some characters (priestesses) that held Taoist beliefs which the Heroine tried to make sense of. I'm interested in seeing the taoist philosophy portrayed though it does not need to be mentioned explicitly or even symbolized.

If you could, i'd also like a female lead. This request is somewhat peculiar so i doubt i'll get many recommendations. <_<;;

Strangely enough, I know a manga to match your request: ASANO Inio's Nijigahara Holograph is supposed to have a deep connection to Taoist beliefs. My knowledge on this subject is very limited but a former member named OppKnox went to great lengths to analyse this masterfully crafted piece of literature from a Taoist point of view. He/She wrote both a comment called "On Butterflies and Taoism" and a detailed forum post to explain his/her ideas.
I have to warn you though, this story is dark and twisted albeit profoundly uplifting once you've understood most of its underlying message.

I made the same recommendation as Tripitaka in this thread asking for... buddhist stuff : http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=43862 ; who knows, you might be interested in the other people's propositions ? /offtopic crossreference

I came across this MIT publication about Environmentalism in Manga and Anime ; Given the place of nature in taoism, you may find a few interesting leads there (i didn't read it i so can't tell you for sure).

Apart from that, a web search with "taoism manga" didn't yield many relevant entries on my end, so good luck with your research.

Though there was nothing on taoist manga, the article was interesting. Thanks for the referral.
I put the search off for a while but i am searching for it again. Going through the forum here would be a start.
