There are times when you think "In hindsight" I should have, or shouldn't have done this.

What are your "In hindsight I ______" moments ?

In hindsight I shouldn't have used the same paper towel I used to wipe the spicy hot wings sauce from my mouth to blow my nose ...
This is one has happened more than once ..
In hindsight I shouldn't have started to wash my sheets when I was already tired. ( I mean my sheets and blanket, which I only own one of)

* I thought there might have already been a thread like this but I couldn't find one .. so I made one.

Rough definition of hindsight: understanding of a situation or event only after it has happened or developed. ( To save someone from googling it, if they didn't know)

In hindsight I shouldn't have told "I like you" to any of the guys I liked, they all went wrong because I was the one who started it (and should have told "I like you" to one girl that I liked).
In hindsight I shouldn't have spent my money on useless things I don't even bother using (my wacom table, my tablet etc).
In hindsight I shouldn't have just watched my girl friends in 4th grade bully another girl and do nothing about it (we actually became friends after that, but we never really talked about it).

More like confessions. Oh well.

In hindsight I should have wore gloves when cleaning with bleach. My hands smell like bleach and anytime it gets near my face I start getting a bit dizzy. The bleach was watered down, but wow the smell really stuck to my hands.

In hindsight I should have payed better attention in Highschool and actually did my homework rather than just lazing about. I would have had a MUCH higher GPA.

In hindsight I should have known that she was lying when she was too close with my best friend.

In hindsight I should have just kept my mouth shut and not said a word.

In hindsight I shouldn't have had a cup of coffee half an hour before dinner ...

Hazelnut coffee and lamb (and tomato sauce) don't mix well ....
That burp really did taste disgusting ... (Lesson learned)

These burps are so disgusting dead I really should have known better

In hindsight I would have lied and cheated a lot more. Honesty is considered a good characteristic only on the surface. People don't like the truth. People don't like when faults are dealt with directly, they enjoy some kind of sick roundabout way of handling life.

Well that's sort of an exaggeration, the truth is that people are so weary of being fooled that they only believe what sounds like the truth, but ultimately that isn't always what is true at all.
It's not that people desire lies, quite the opposite, it's just that when confidence meets stupidity it leads to believing whatever sounds accurate.

Now, most people must be thinking "then i gotta be smart", but that's quite wrong, the real answer is to lose some confidence, because it is within our nature to be stupid. If you mistrust your instincts then you might be able to see trough a lie. A clever man must know that he knows nothing.

Quite obvious on Hindsight,

which means that once the chance to apply the theory appears we won't be able to follow trough.

People are not weary of being fooled. People are weary of being brought into an unfavorable position. Girl won't care if you say to her that the dress won't match with the style of the party, she will care if you say that the dress makes her look fat (no worries I was not that stupid to actually say smth like that - just an example).
You are right that people don't desire lies. People desire a manipulation of the truth, which happens to be a LIE.

If it was in our nature to be stupid, we would be chewed on by lions. We are not.

It is in the nature of all beings to be stupid, it doesn't mean we can't overcome challenges. We are stupid because the standards we set for being smart are an illusion created because of the self deception of our sense of worth, the moment the challenge comes we can react well, but we can never react perfectly, on the thematic of the thread, everything is easy on Hindsight.

On the other hand, nobody wants lies, the Girl on your example need to hear a compliment, but the thing is that she would believe it truth only if it match with the answer she expected. "I believe I look well"->"he said I look great"->"It's truth that i look ok"
"I look awful with this"->"He said i look great"->"I look awful with this, he doesn't know what he is talking about"

It's not really the answer per se, it's whatever is on the mind of whoever might hear the answer. Therefore nobody wants to hear lies, they just want to hear what they want to hear, it might be truth or a lie, but they believe it is truth, and coming down to the concept of truth, something can be said to be truth so long as it is believe to be so, because the notion of what is and not the truth comes from our compression of it.

Simply put, people don't want to hear a lie nor your truth, they want to hear their truth, which might so happen to seem like a Lie to you.

BUT..

If we get away from semantics and pointless internet competition of rightness (if that's a term at all), People (and specially girls) sometime want to hear you lie for them, not for the content of the message, but rather because they want to know you would lie for them. In one such case, it's not about whatever the thematic might be but about proving someone you care enough.

edit: oooops, sorry Kitty18dnsz, there goes my bad habit of randomly looking for discussions on the net for not real reason other that losing time (even tough I don't have that much to spare, I'm eating on my sleeping hours here)

I can't promise you that if RexIX answers i won't, but i would try my best to control my self.

Also, on Hindsight following my instincts time and again has proven to always be a bad idea, but at the moment of truth I can't always just look at things from a neutral point of view.

BlackOrion, and RexIX think you can talk back in edits? and quotes (So you don't get off topic or start getting off topic. )
Or at least add another in hindsight moment at the end bigrazz

edit- It's ok BlackOrion I understand the need to reply to someone's post, but I also know how things can spiral far from the original topic. ( I do go off on many tangents) Oh I hope you do get enough sleep though .... I'll stop here. If anything I may PM you ;D

Another in Hindsight moment for me ....
In Hindsight I should have approached this guy differently .... well I blew going out with him. laugh
Note to self don't be too aggressive >.>

Sidenote- This thread is starting to remind me of that superhero in Southpark. The guy who's powers were to tell things in hindsight. I remember Cartman was the coon or something, and didn't like this guy as another hero in town.

"In hindsight, I shouldn't have said that."

I tend to open my mouth without thinking. A lot. Especially if it's talking to people I know well. It's like my filters fade away.
