Hey~!

I'm looking for stories with interesting, unorthodox couples (preferably established) where "budding romance" is NOT the focus of the plot. I guess this rules out most shoujo.
I'd like a couple that has stuff happen to it, get into trouble, go on crazy adventures, get into weird situations... Stuff like that.
I'd prefer both partners to have stuff going for them, strength, brain, whatever, as long as it doesn't boil down to one of them always ending up protecting the other.
Any genre's fine.

Some examples:
Oh, My Sweet Alien! fits because... well, alien wife. And they do have some weird stuff happen to them.
Blood Alone not actually a couple, I guess, but this fits in my opinion.
Cat Wife...because the wife's a cat. That is all.

Thanks in advance!

First thing I thought of was Kyouran Kazoku Nikki They start off getting married and it's fun, family hi-jinx.

Now, I'm not completely sure if it would fit but the duo of Akiyama and Nao from Liar Game seems like it might interest you. Though I will be the first to say Nao's weakness in the beginning can be annoying, she gets better!

And on the off chance (though this is reaching a little), Under PRIN

...In any case, the first one is likely the one closest to what you were looking for considering your examples.

Immortal Rain? I guess, he protects her for the first half though
Shindere Shoujo to Kodoku na Shinigami well they already like each other, they just don't say it and they get into pretty nasty situations
Double Arts well they aren't really a couple but it's enough^^
Chou Dokyuu Shoujo 4946 moar aliens

Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro This series has both my and my friend's OTP. It's not really romantic, but it's the best unconventional duo ever.

Midori no Hibi because she becomes his right hand...

Hmm that's all I got..

Futari no Renai Shoka - might work, even though romance is the main theme; characters get established as a couple early on and have to deal with some stuff (I think female lead's father doesn't like the male lead and the fact that he is still quite young and younger than his daughter etc.)

You must try Angel Densetsu..

The art isn't going to make you fall in love with this manga but the characters, the plot, the story and again the characters will surely make you love this one. Please ignore the art stat and just give it a try. smile

You could also try Kyou kara ore wa!!..
Oh and of course Yankee-kun to Megane-chan
