Like I said in the title I was hoping to find something with unique characters, especially the main character. I don't mean something like "not your typical shoujo girl", I mean something more than that. Something that you really NEVER see, or almost never haha.

It can be anything, shonen, shoujo, josei, etc. I just don't want any ecchi, yuri/yaoi/shojo ai (shonen ai is alright), and slice of life.

Oh, and it has to be ongoing, or be complete and have a lot of chapters (100+).

Ansatsu Kyoushitsu MC is an octopus/alien who has vowed to destroy the world in a year. He can fly at mach 20 and his skin changes color depending on his mood. He is currently the teacher of class 3-E, the worst students in school, who are assigned to kill him before he destroys the world. That doesn't even begin to describe him though. One of the best newer manga out there.

With that series on the mind, I'd also recommend Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro by the same author. That guys a genius at making far out characters that are insane but you can't help but love.

try -
Trick Ster - An unnamed girl is the protagonist. She has no family, friends or job and lives by tricking people. Its pretty short and more of a comedy.

Helter Skelter - An actress who has undergone all possible surgeries to become beauty personified. Unable to deal with the stress, her mind and body start to crumble. This is a piece of gem , but avoid this if you are uncomfortable with some graphic content.

Nodame Cantabile - Chiaki is a talented musician who dreams of studying abroad. Unfortunately he's afraid of flying. Nodame is a girl who is hopeless at everything other than playing the piano. With her help Chiaki learns something he'd forgotten. This manga is hilarious and I loved it.

Sekine-kun no Koi - Sekine is loved by all women and has it all. After a bit of self reflection, he starts doubting it.

Pretty certain that you don't see a characters like this usually. Hope you like them

EDIT: oops, I am sorry. I didn't read your post properly. Of my recommendations only Nodame Cantabile has 100+ chapters. But I certainly hope it doesn't stop you from reading the other manga.

Noblesse. The main character is unique. He is cool, strong, silent & smart. Other main character is a devoted servant who is a sadist in his heart Not your typical shonen characters The starting (till CH70) is slow so please bear with it ^^ Read it on Batoto as it is a webcomic.
